It's Friday again!

Incoming freshmen, take note. This is how it's done.

I couldn't do that anymore (I was in my year between undergrad and grad school. Nothing but working and drinking) w/out the aid of semi-legal substances (coughadderalcough). I guess it was the sheer adrenaline keeping me going that weekend. Of course, if we beat Iowa this year, my weekend might follow a similar trajectory.

There are times when I really wish I could throw down like I did in college, but I know my liver would hate me. It's just finally recovered.

When I think about how much drinking I did during the 5 years I lived in Ames I wonder how I made it out of there alive or at least made it out with a fully functioning liver (to the best of my knowledge)

Yeah, especially my last semester.

Mon: Es Tas & Mickey's for $4 pitchers
Tues: Occasional study night
Wed: Buck bottles at Paddy's
Thurs: Trailer trash night @ People's
Fri: FAC @ People's and then $1 shots at Outlaws til midnight
Sat: House party or another night on Welch
Sun: $5 pitchers at Tradewinds with Ames natives

Repeat cycle

What was everyone's bar of choice? I always liked Dean's List and Mickeys.... when out hunting it was always Sips though. I ******* hated Sips but you were forced to go there.

I recently was up in Ames and had a beer in Cy's Roost. That place got remodeled and it already looks like a total ********. The smell in there was so overpowering that I nearly passed out.... Brutal.

If I was just chilling, I would head to Paddy's or Mickey's. My favorite bar was People's but that was usually for the crowd, the specials and the show.

We would go to Tradewinds every so often and that wasn't so bad for a townie bar.

People's, Paddy's or Mickey's. I avoided Sips unless it was someone's birthday and they wanted to "dance." The people I went out with were very much the sit, drink, smoke, bs, play pool/darts crowd.

I'll tell you, I always had a great time at Outlaws. That place was the best to go to if it was after 11pm, you were drunk and you were with a group of girls. I can't tell you how many nights I ended there.

Nothing wrong with that. I shared an apartment with a buddy of mine from up north and he would drag me all over campus town playing pool. People always wanted to fight him for some reason but man... he was probably only 5' 11" and maybe 140lbs but he lays brick for a living and is a former wrestler so it usually was an ugly night for anyone that started **** with him.

I think I might know your friend. His initials wouldn't be LS by chance would they?

My bar of choice was the one at Lied. "The Benchpress", they called it. And I loved to do curls in front of the big mirrors with a cut-off shirt and very oversized dumbells and basically rock from the waist and not curl my arms so much. Hot girl pokin' in a little sports bra and tight shorts walking by?...Who cares when I've got ME to look at in the mirror!

Otherwise known as Dean's List (Dean's Hole) for us old-timers.

Last year, one of the hub's punk friends broke my DL mug I'd had since sophomore year. RIP DL mug. We had some good times.

Or are they EF?

Yeah, that place has had a lot of names.

Dean's List
Big Shots & Chasers
Outlaws
Some stupid *** dance club and the name is escaping me.

Is that where The Library was as well?
