No.
It killed an ISU basketball player.
Losing a freshman before he plays a minute because of pickleball would be the most on-brand thing this program has ever done.
The timing of this tweet is highly suspicious

Those 40+ yr olds will really be running up and down the pitch.Ban pickleball and replace all pickleball courts with futbol courts. I want the US to get past the round of 16 once in my lifetime.
Grumble, mumble, hrumph…Wonder how long this fad will last. Our town just put one in the park, never see anyone using it, unlike the old volleyball court that was there, or the basketball court.
That situation is definitely the exception. Everywhere we've traveled, pickleball courts are used MUCH more than tennis courts.Wonder how long this fad will last. Our town just put one in the park, never see anyone using it, unlike the old volleyball court that was there, or the basketball court.
That's my experience too. I don't even call pickleball a fad anymore, it's here to stay. It was a 'fad', like, pre-Covid time. Years ago. That situation is definitely the exception. Everywhere we've traveled, pickleball courts are used MUCH more than tennis courts.
BTW - one of the quickest ways to rile up a tennis player is to bring up pickleball. They hate it for some reason.
The one they put in at Gilbert is used all the time, seems like every time we drive by it for a softball game or run over to the school, someone is out there playing on it.Wonder how long this fad will last. This. Absolutely brutal to listen to.It's really loud unfortunately. That hollow ball on wooden paddles. Fun to play annoying AF if it's near your home.
I live in north ankeny and they just put in a new playground in the green space behind my house with a basketball court that also has pickleball lines on it. I've seen more people bring their own net to play pickleball on it then I have seen people play basketball. It's still pretty new so that may change. That situation is definitely the exception. Everywhere we've traveled, pickleball courts are used MUCH more than tennis courts.

It is pretty obnoxious to be around if you aren't playing, no denying that. It's getting better with the change in paddles to softer/quieter materials instead of straight up wood, but there's still a lot of that out there today. It's really loud unfortunately. They have installed pickleball courts all over Ankeny and they are stuffed to the gills 100% of the time. My soon to be sophomore in high school goes over there a lot with a big group and it’s not uncommon for them to not even be able to get a court.
