Did Christian Wiggins tear his achilles playing Pickleball?

Just a massive miscalculation by TJ. It's pretty reckless to let elite athletes in their prime play a sport meant for the elderly or people too out-of-shape to play traditional tennis.

I suppose you're going to tell me next that football players play pickup basketball in the offseason...

I'm disgusted to learn about this irresponsible decision to let the boys play pickleball made by the staff. These guys need to stick to sports that don't require sudden explosive movements in different directions -- Like basketball. There has literally never been an Achilles tear in organized basketball before. This one is on TJ.

Because they're elite athletes training to compete in everything, not middle age adults who are hurting themselves and filing those claims. Can't wrap these guys in bubble wrap, stuff happens, this is off season training.
How is our injury rate compared to other P5 basketball programs of the course of a 12 month training, playing games and practicing regimen? If this is normal compared to everyone else over the course after a 5 year span, then that is just the way of things. If not, we may need to look at how we are doing things. Firstly, obviously we want to keep everyone healthy for depth, practice guys and actual contributors. 2nd, You don't want other programs using our injury rate (if it is abnormal) to negatively recruit against us.

I imagine the medical staff monitors this in conjunction with coaches and trainers. That's probably a fluid situation every year depending on data. It certainly feels like we have more injuries but I don't know what the actual numbers look like.

I think every fan base believes they are uniquely cursed.

Yep absolutely. There has to be a clause in TJ's contract that expires him and allows Iowa State out of such a horrible irresponsibility. How dare they allow the fellas to have an "off day" . They are professional basketball players- there is no stress relief or team bonding. They need to be practicing hard all day everyday. If they need a break they can shoot free throws. On top of it all, it looks like its at their practice facility. Anyone who is anyone knows you cant play pickleball on a basketball court. They should have taken them out to the Ames Parks and Rec league sanctioned Pickle Ball courts.
