I wondered the same thing. I'm not sure how long he's been absent.
Has it been announced illness?

JD was out on WC road trip & Boog announced with Sutcliffe.

Boog missed last game or two of Chicago homestand. I assumed it was because of national media commitment on Sunday. And then took road trip off.

I’m not concerned about the offense. You don’t go on two 10 game win streaks on accident (and averaged like 7 runs a game during that whole stretch)

The SP issue is going to be a struggle though, and not easily fixed anytime soon.

I don’t know. I see a lot of last years team in this years team. We were hot as hell first half of the season last season and then absolutely fell apart after the all star break. This team is good enough to have some winning streaks, but also bad enough to have some bad losing streaks as well. Which at the end of the day doesn’t bode well in October.

Because it's not a national broadcast on TBS. And because MLB blackout rules are insanely out of date a dumb.
I'm very familiar with the second sentence. I pay for mlb.tv to get Braves games, and it's blacked out there and on TBS. Absolute insanity. Also tried to VPN to Arizona, with no luck.

Why was today's game blacked out on TBS in central Iowa?

Mediacom carries the Marquee Network in the Cubs market area (Iowa for us) so if the game is available there the blackout is enabled for other providers carrying the game. The current contract structure, which will hopefully be changed in the next few years, does all it can to try and point you to subscribing to Mediacom (or other providers carrying Marquee) to watch Cubs games, hence the blackout.

It was blacked out on YouTube tv as well. They don’t carry Marquee.

Iowa is THE black hole for MLB blackouts. Nuts.

It's not based on provider. It has nothing to do with Mediacom, just that you have to watch the game on Marquee if you live in the cubs blackout area however you can get it. Prime, Mediacom, Hulu, or a direct subscription through Marquee are at least some of the options.

I got mad at YouTubeTV during the whole ESPN debacle and switched to Hulu Liv and I've really liked it. It comes with Marquee, which is awesome.
