yeah Im at just over 30k a year on just my work truck alone. Wifes SUV was at around 35k in the 1st year. probably another 10k on my car as a 2nd family vehicle between the 2 of us.

That’s an astronomical amount of driving. You’re probably in the top 1%.

Yet I know people who drive more. Some of the guys I work with double my milage even.
I mean that is not even in the highest 1%....has to be in the top .00001%. This is an absolute insane amount of gas. Think of all the oil changes, filter changes etc needed with that. So crazy.

Modern synthetic does wonders. My work truck is mostly 8k mi+ oil changes. Wifes SUV is at 6k+ on its current oil change and shows 30% on the monitor, still golden brown in color. Paid $1k for a lifetime basic service package for it. Worth the money. But as far as milage average you have to remember that includes those who drive 1 mile and those who drive hundreds of miles a day.

Avg annual miles per vehicle is only 12k. Slightly higher per licensed driver because most people end up driving more than one vehicle per year.

I can't remember the last time I drove less than 40,000 miles. I had 3 urs Ina row 50,000+ sometimes self employed isn't all that great.

I searched for mileage distribution but averages was all I could find.

I am curious if there are more Americans who drive <1k miles per year or >40k per year. Lots of folks in big cities who don't drive - walk, bike, public transport or rideshare is all they need.

Yeah it’s off the bell curve. It’s driving 100+ miles per day. I don’t know a single person doing that outside of a work situation.

Beyond the gas, think of the absolute mind numbing boredom of sitting behind the wheel that long. Sounds absolutely awful.

it's a 50 mile one way commute for the wife, I know of 2 others with a 70+ mile or 80+ mile one way, apparently the guy with the 80+ mile one has been doing it for awhile. I enjoy my longer commute days as it's when I listen to cyclone/sports podcasts.

I really wish they could put this cybertruck on a different body. Everyone that owns one seems to love it. If this ends up being $60k, it will be a heck of a deal.

Yeah, I have never understood the marketing behind it really. It's terrible at being a "truck" - just not fit for purpose. Call it the "CyberShip" or "CyberWagon" to match the futuristic styling.

No one who needs Ram or F150 capabilities decides a Cyber Truck will also get the job done.

They should totally make a mid sized SUV out of it.

The past 3 years, GF and I have averaged <10k total - each. Thats me with 2 cars and bike combined <10k. She might be over 10k with her H-D added, she took a couple long trips on it I didn't.

Mileage that I can only dream of. I did have a extra 8500 (?) Miles on a trip to Alaska, Iowa to Bellingham WA ferry to Alaska big loop in Alaska then back down the AlCan to home. Miles well acquired IMO.

Weird things like that happen. In one 12 month span my little brother got married in Maine and then I took a job just south of Bellingham. So we drove from IA - ME - IA and then IA - WA twice to move. Basically across the country twice. One guy I work with here moved from FL and drove his car the whole way.

In fairness how many people actually need a Ram or F150 outside of twice a year?

Company I work for had free on-site charging but got told last week that going forward you will have to pay market rate.
Market rate for electricity, or market rate for what charging stations charge? If they are just charging their cost for electricity, that's still a pretty good deal. If they're charging you for what a charging station would be, not a good deal.
