CW POD: Is pro wrestling fun again?

Once Cody went to the eye gouge and low blow, I thought for sure they were going for a double turn. McAfee out as the ref had the chance to screw Randy and join with Cody. Then they blew it. RKO to McAfee made no sense.

EXACTLY how my son and I saw it too. I'm actually hoping they don't make Cody a heel. He's like Cena...in the fact he's the face of WWE. Turning Cena bad never really worked...and neither would Cody. You got Gunther, Orton (who's good either way)...maybe Reigns...Keep Cody a good guy.

I just have to imagine McAfee gets involved in the main event tomorrow. I can’t imagine it’s a coincidence that Punk called him out. There’s no way that story line just goes away…

Also the matches tonight were insanely short. You’re getting longer matches mid-card on Smackdown.

Just not a very good product tonight, but par for the course with how things have gone the last year.

The women’s title match was disappointingly short, I felt. Why start so early and end so early?

It didn't work because the Rock screwed it up by no-showing at last year's WrestleMania and anything afterward. The setup, the heel turn at Royal Rumble and everything up till WrestleMania were all brilliant: Rock tries to swing Cody Rhodes over to his side, but he refuses because (without saying those words) "he's the new Cena". So Rock brings Cena over to his side to stick it to Rhodes. It was brilliant, and it was working... until the Rock bailed on it and Cena's whole motivation for the heel turn was gone and none of it made sense anymore. But it absolutely made sense in the early parts of the run.

Just so many wtfs after that last match.

Why did Pat have to sign a contract? Why was that part of the Smackdown story?

Is Pat now done with WWE as was originally part of the deal?

Why are we bringing Pat in for 3 weeks, have the fan base and locker room despise the decision (not in a “oh he’s a heel” but a “wtf are we doing”) and then having Randy turn on him so quick? Zero build up. Zero sense.

I’m probably giving Triple H too much credit but I have to think it’s not over and McAfee gets involved with Punk tonight.

That must be it...because Cena tried like hell to be the heel. He played it well...But I am like most casual watchers. Seeing Cena as a heel was like seeing Favre in a Jets uniform.

All the online posts about it mention that first.

More ads than anything else.

I thought based on that cody punk moment to end smackdown at least 1 if not both were losing. So Punk probably for sure losing.

At least Randy would around on a regular basis.

Not looking forward to another Reigns reign where you have a champion who isn't on TV every week.

I watched the USO’s, La Knight vs Logan Paul, Austin Theory and whatever the YouTube kids name is and the main event last night. Missed everything else. Both matches were complete garbage. I’m looking forward to Oba Femi vs Brock Lesnar tonight. It’s apparently going on first which is horrible booking if you ask me. I’m going to watch it and then turn it off. I have no desire to watch anything else. Been trying to pay attention to the build since the Rumble, but the product is so bad, I just don’t care about anything else in the card. Roman is obviously winning the main event.

These were match lengths last night. Pathetic.

WrestleMania Night 1 match lengths tonight:

Usos & LA vs. Vision — 7 minutes
Jacob vs. Drew — 14 minutes
Women’s Fatal 4-Way — 9 minutes
Becky Lynch vs. AJ Lee — 8 minutes
Gunther vs. Seth Rollins — 15 minutes
Liv Morgan vs. Stephanie Vaquer — 7 minutes
Randy Orton vs. Cody — 23 minutes

This is WrestleMania, for God’s sake—except for the main event, no match was longer than 20 minutes
