Wrestling Press Conference Scheduled for Tomorrow

The chills I just got hearing metcalf say his kids grew up cyclones is WILD. To go along with with what @stuclone talked about is just mind boggling
Just to piggy back off of this for casual wrestling fans, this would be the equivalent of Georges Niang becoming the Iowa Hawkeye Men's basketball coach with his kids growing up Hawkeye fans.

Interesting they’re just converting the old gymnastics facility in Beyer for the women. Seems like the perfect time to do something else

Tar and feather me but it is/was a fair question that should have been asked and I largely think JP handled it well. They knew it would come so he was prepared for it.
I'm not trying to suggest they shouldn't have to answer more questions about gymnastics, but during a press conference with several major announcements it just doesn't seem like the right time to get real in depth. Maybe I'm wrong.

So, does women's wrestling not need AC either?
lol right- some good questions being asked.

I don’t think the tall ceilings of that gymnastics room is conducive to wrestling, but maybe can have multiple levels or something. But that doesn’t match JP’s comment about it just being cosmetic upgrades.

they're gonna removed the foam pit and bars and reuse the mats. prepare yourself for the DIY "instant" wrestling room surrounded by chainlink with privacy sheets hanging on it.

Such a dumb question. Today is about the future of women’s wrestling at Iowa state, no shade to gymnastics but their program is over now.
I mean it's kinda the reason we have women's wrestling now. The AD has been fairly quiet on the ending of gymnastics and haven't made themselves available for questions on it so I get why the reporters are asking, it is their job.

But agree today is about wrestling.

The thing I've grown to appreciate about Metcalf and Alli, after quasi getting to know them at wrestling functions is you can tell that they truly care. They are committed to Iowa State and it comes across in the way they talk and act. Really proud to be able to call them our coaches.

Are the womens wrestling NCAA championships locked into Iowa City for a number of years and does anyone have any idea if they could come to Ames?
