Mystery Virus going around Iowa

Tracks, I would have said viral based on your symptoms but when its only in one lung bacterial is the more common diagnosis (your other listed symptoms don’t match however) I also would have waited for the blood work to get back before prescribing antibiotics.

Covid can cause pneumonia so it makes sense but personally being in the ED I see it all the time so without looking at some studies I wouldn’t have much to add besides anecdotal evidence
I thought viral too tbh. Everything I read online said I should be having chest pain or coughing up colored sputum. But everything is clear & I'm not in pain when I cough so idk.
No fever either at office, 98.4

I don’t think I’ve had a respiratory infection like this since I was a kid. I didn’t even cough hardly when I had Covid. No me gusta

If you wake up with "Hawkeyes" tattooed on your belly, you have something very wrong with you.

Is this related to the what if it burns when I pee post? Cause I think those are both related to really bad decisions drinking with your Iowa fan friends.

Yeah the lack of an initial high fever is also unusual for that. It’s why I wouldn’t have started you on antibiotics without the blood work coming back or would have wrote the script but advised to give it a little longer to see if they were necessary.

I also have a major bias against the over prescribing of antibiotics in general

Luckily for me, I don't have any friends that are Hawk fans. It's a beautiful thing.

She will likely get it from you. It's very contagious. Unless she's sending you out of the house for a week to 10 days.
I slept on the couch most of last night to avoid this but it likely won't help.

Then she can complain that I gave it to her. I guess I can counter with, "At least I didn't give you the clap."

its burns when i pee what do i do @FriendlySpartan
I found just the item on Etsy for you, Coach...

Ok pneumonia isn’t fun.
I know I could be way worse than I am, but this **** sucks.

I’ve never had the flu or anything that’s affected my breathing before. Even Covid didn’t hit me like that.
My coworker is evil. His wife also got pneumonia

You have my sympathy because last December, I had very similar symptoms. Maybe the worst lethargy I had felt in years. Doctors were great; tested every virus under the sun and I was negative for them all. I had a bit of a fever and the chest xray showed a vague opacity. Diagnosis? Probably bacterial pneumonia. One short course of Ab, lots of fluids and rest - not much else you can do. Almost missed Christmas because of it.

My children who at one time or another have had pneumonia or had friends with pneumonia warned me to not mess with it. They told me to rest and listen to my body; if I tried to do too much too soon, I would pay the price - and they were right! I should have listened to them better. LOL.

It's been quite a fall/winter for Respiratory disease. I think the lesson is clear. Do everything we can to maintain a sound and effective immune system, and help our immune system with appropriate vaccines. We can't expect doctors to perform miracles all the time; we have to help ourselves too.

Does anyone have an idea of what it is?
My coworker at work got it, started off as just a cold, then moved into bronchitis.
He tested negative for covid & Flu A/B
And yes, I’m asking because he gave it to me lol.
Felt a cold coming on last Sunday, still went for a run, Monday I felt quite a bit worse. Tuesday bad again, Wednesday felt a little better so went on another run.
Thursday felt terrible and had a low grade fever for 3 days. <100.4
Now just have a wonderful hacking cough.
(No fever anymore)

Any ideas on what’s going around?

Edit: Doctor thinks I have very mild pneumonia in my left lung yay.
Getting put on antibiotics for a precaution.
JFC. Soft as ****.
