Not exactly true. ISU was going to pay him. Not as much as he could get at a blue blood, but at least competitive. What they couldn’t do is hold that money through May for a player that might stay in the draft. They needed to spend their funds on guys who were going to be here, not bank it just in case. So, if Milan pulls out of the draft in a month, the money earmarked for him will be gone. That’s why he entered the portal. It’s a backup plan in case the draft doesn’t work out.Our team next year is good (top 20ish). Milan makes it a top 5 team. Wanting to hurry up and add a mid major that averages 10 ppg isn’t more advantageous than holding out for Milan. No way this isn’t anything other than taking advantage of more money somewhere else. Can’t blame Milan.
I just don't agree with this. Yes, defense is our identity, but offense is just as important in basketball. If we are ignoring offense, our staff is doing the program a disservice. They aren't. He averaged 17 last season. He very well could've averaged 20 next season. Acting like he just isn't a fit anymore is pure copium and a misunderstanding of the program in my opinion. They can afford him, it's just you can't afford the other 5 guys then.
Milan is a TJ guy, but in reality, he doesn't play how the program has evolved. To make him to focal point he needs to rebound, and average prob over 20, and be totally unguardable on the perimeter and the post. . That's not who is is yet.
It's just an unfortunate timing thing. Great player, just odd circumstance. Lot of other schools having same exact issue with the 2nd round guys.
Prather was the 30th most efficient offensive player in the country last season, according to KenPom.Prather is a high output player with mediocre at best shooting numbers. I would definitely pass.
What was Milan?Prather was the 30th most efficient offensive player in the country last season, according to KenPom.
In the Horizon league. Shooting 44% from the field and 36% from 3 doesn’t excite me.Prather was the 30th most efficient offensive player in the country last season, according to KenPom.
People said the same thing when Curtis Jones transferred from Buffalo. Look how that turned out.In the Horizon league. Shooting 44% from the field and 36% from 3 doesn’t excite me.
Go away and cheer for your beloved HawkeyesIowa focusing on retention and fit makes it harder to see where the money goes.
It might work out. It might not.People said the same thing when Curtis Jones transferred from Buffalo. Look how that turned out.
No way is iowa paying him $3MMI’m afraid that will happen. Just hope it’s not in the Big 12 or hawks
I'm overwhelmed by the portal class. I would expect Johnson & Singleton to start. And maybe Bond as well.Don’t rationalize this. It sucks to lose Milan. As others have said, let’s hope he stays in the DRAFT otherwise it will really suck. All trust in TJ, but I feel a bit underwhelmed in the transfer class if we don’t have $3 million tied up with Milan. But I know it is the wild Wild West right now.
He’ll get north of 3 millionNo way is iowa paying him $3MM
51/38/84 are great shooting percentagesIn the Horizon league. Shooting 44% from the field and 36% from 3 doesn’t excite me.
Agree. Now that they have moved on from Milan, I wouldn't mind going for a 4 now, and have Singleton at the 3.Posters keep saying Singleton is the next Jefferson, but he looks like a better ball handler and quicker. So I expect we'll see a big lineup with Manning & Singleton playing together.
1-2 from the line is the really surprising number for me.In our last three NCAA losses, 89 minutes, 12 points total on 4-25 from the field, 3-16 from 3, 6 rebounds, 1-2 from the line.
I wish him all the best.
