WBB: 2026 Transfer Portal

I’m surprised with the sheer number of women we need for next year that we only have one from the
Portal so far. I don’t know if this is good or not. I was hoping with Pollards “we’ll have plenty of money” to find high quality student athletes that Bill would have a number of women on his radar, but we haven’t really heard much.

There is a need to get things settled definitely for a lot of reasons. The portal is open only for filing, and transferees will spend the months on into summer getting their future program set. I feel for you and all the WBB fans apprehensive during this inscrutable process. I am not super hyped about what will shake out for next years team (Jada was once in a hundred transfer) but will support the ladies next fall. Yeah, I am a homer to the core.

Our staff has always kept fairly quiet on the portal, heck last year the only person we really knew about was Jada because she posted about it on Instagram. Out of the blue last year, there is an announcement that EP was transferring in, and no one had really heard much about her. It's also the first weekend, so who knows how many visitors we have on campus. I don't think our coaching staff is sitting around doing nothing.

We don't have a Chad at the DMR who is a fanboy for Iowa and writes about their portal activity and visits. We have Tommy Birch, who does little to nothing in regards to the portal other than announce when someone has left or after they have committed.

Really sucks that the biggest school in the state, near the the largest population center, and a bastion catering to the state's agronomic base gets shadowed.

Somewhat surprised there isnt more being reported about ISU targets.

But maybe this weekend is for the big money players to determine their next school. And once schools know that piece of the financial puzzle the next couple tiers of players will fall into place. And that's probably the target group for Iowa State.

It’s early. Over a thousand players trying to find new homes. Once the Sacs players are off the board things will get interesting. Fortunately ISU is already on the prowl for players who fit our budget and program.

Bill going to go old style (think Dirty Thirty in 50s) and roll with only 7 players. He only needs to get 2 more.

It's been fairly slow moving in general it seems like with the women's portal. Not a lot of news in general so there may be some dominos to fall before before things really kick into gear. Other than maybe a dozen teams there isn't nearly the amount of money to go around like there is on the men's side too so some of the players just below those that are seeking the most money may be holding out to see what is left once those players sign and try to get every last dollar they can. Someone that misses out on an expensive target may all the sudden have more to spend on the next tier.

It's slow because everyone is over valuing themselves. Lot of coaches are telling agents let us know when the price drops.

Fenelly fam was in the ticket line last night for Combs. Was pretty surprised they weren’t granted some easy entrance pass. You’d think the higher up athletics people could get right in
