Public records advocates sue Iowa State over details of Dublin football game

Hawks jealous we got to play in the game.

That said, ISU is still subject to FOIA requests, and being slow to respond isn't a great look

For comparison purposes, Evans at that time requested the same game contract from Kansas State and received it in full, without charge, in less than 10 days.

The other part of this is if state officials attended this on the taxpayers' dime, or their own. Which is worthy of discussion. No cave.

I get wanting public entities to be transparent in their spending, but if I’m reading this right, seeing $845,435 in travel expenses by 285 individuals comes out to $2,966.44 per a person doesn’t seem that unreasonable for a transatlantic trip.

Not including airfare though, for 4(?) days.

Our group of six spent over $4500.00 per person for that trip . Seems like they got a good deal.

Just got back from Dublin a couple months ago and the flight was the cheapest part. Dublin is a very expensive city where you'd be lucky to find a hotel in city center for under $250/night. On top of that, meals and drinks are comparable to NYC prices. I think the cheapest pint of Guinness I found was €8.50.

You been to Europe? It’s expensive as hell there. Wife and I went to Norway (amazing trip) but holy hell was it expensive
Not yet, but some day. I didn't mean to imply anything improper happened, I was just pointing out it didn't include airfare. Also I believe hotel and food for the team was provided, rooms and food for the band and cheerleaders, transportation, etc.

I certainly am not as well informed on this stuff as most here, but doesn't this start to reflect a bit poorly on JP? If it was one or two things, I'd give him more grace, but this has been the most chaotic six months of Cyclone athletics, maybe in my lifetime. Just provide the records and move on.

I read an article that was questioning if Reynolds paid for her trip or ISU pay for it.

They are looking to see if anyone that should not have gotten a free vacation did. Not if the wife's of the coaches and other got there for nothing, but others. Large boosters, people in the government for the state. This is happening all over the state right now, the government is not obeying the law and releasing where the money is being spent.

Yeah that's exactly what they're doing and totally not just trying to get a quick pay day.

A quick pay day for whom? Most of the people doing this are newspapers or other media organizations filing for freedom of information act, they are not going to be making money off of it, just want all records to be out in public like the law says. I am not sure why anyone would oppose items like this, if ISU did something wrong, then those people that benefitted should pay the money back to the university.

Trying to remember from where I know Randy Evans. Does he write often for the Gazette? Does he do other things that would make him known to the public?
