**** Official 2026 MBB Spring Transfer Portal Thread ****

I’m still baffled by Mason Williams, I was so excited to see him play but it’s sounding like this was TJ telling him to move on? Did he just not really recover from his injury or something. I trust TJ but man Williams was a guard I was pumped to see in a cyclone uniform.

Now with that said, I’m pretty excited about all these recruits on campus this weekend minus maybe Manning? He didn’t look great at Kstate but he also was playing under Tang so who knows.
I'm with you. Thought he was an assumed starter last fall before he got hurt, at least when brought in.

Agreed. I always thought he was the downhill/create your own shot guard we didn't necessarily have last year.

Saying can't create is just not true when he can get to that Fadeaway against anyone.

The BYU game is different to me because I'm not sure what anyone expected when we just let Dybantsa play 1 on 1. There's not a 2-4 in the country Dybansta can't lock down if you just let him play 1 on 1.

Take a look at the AZ game in the B12 tourney... They realized Milan was hot and decided for one godforsaken time they would run him off more screens and draw more plays for him and he drops 28 against one of the best teams in the country. I see a lot of fans love to say he cant create and while there is some truth to that, he still averaged the most points on the team over JJeff and Tamin who both had the ball in their hands more than him and even with a few rough games.

I agree, probably don't want to pay him any more than JJeff got last year, and certainly not what the current market is saying he may be worth.

I just get sick of hearing the "He can't create" narrative when our coaching staff was notoriously bad and scheming up a counter a defender wearing him like a shirt.

Just my two cents but when people say "can't create" they are talking about him showing that he can do more off the dribble. That's the feedback he's going to get from the NBA scouts. If he pulls his name out of the draft, Milan needs to decide if he wants to chase the dollars or the opportunity. IMO his best opportunity to grow as a player is at Iowa State. Scouts already know he's a sniper from three so going to a school to be a shooter won't help his draft stock. If he stays at Iowa State he knows the system and will have a great opportunity to be more of a key player/creator. IMO this is a total "bet on yourself" situation for Milan.

There has been a lot of speculation that he may follow Blount to San Diego...

The bucket getter will be that Johnson kid. He shot 5 more free throws this year than Jefferson did. Twice as many as Tamin did. He's one of those little guards that pisses you off cause you can't figure out how someone that size scores so much. But when he goes 10 for 10 at the line you're like, oh, that's how he scored 20pts tonight.

Yep, he's that classic little guy that you can't stand playing against and has a cool nickname like Booger.

Kakert said he liked Iowa, but might not be able to pay him what he got last year, so he opened up his recruiting. That makes sense since you have a supposed budget and need to figure out the best way of upgrading your team with those resources

There was also smoke that he didn't love Ben's system... money is always the scape goat.

I will say, the lack of foul calls when he was face guarded last year was criminal. Constantly grabbed, hugged and impeded. It was really, really pathetic officiating.

What irritates me is that freedom of movement was a focal point like 5 years ago and then this face guarding and grabbing sh!t was allowed. I don't get it.

I agree. However, I don't think Prather adds anything that our two incomming freshman bigs can't provide. Maybe he is a good leader though. So I am down to take four of them and if one or two don't get playing time, no biggie.
I think it really might come down to budget, though I think the most reliable route to program consistency is not knowingly having to rely on freshmen by having experienced minutes at every position. If any of the freshmen produce in year one, that's a huge bonus.

He had 85 steals this year. For reference, Tamin had his second best year this year and had 77. My guess is he's fairly quick on his feet.
Also, dont let his height (5'10ish) mislead you. If you have seen film he has a longer wingspan. Plays more like 6'1ish.
A good comp would be former Syracuse pg Jonny Flynn

Johnson would not be a Milan replacement, espically with Toure and the Bradley guard visiting. Everyone is complaining about size, Johnson is short- That's two short guys on the floor at the same time will be tough in the Big 12.
I'm not saying Johnson would be a Milan replacement in any way, shape, or form. They're almost completely opposite players. I'm saying if Johnson were to come to ISU, his ability to drive to the cup and either get fouled/make the shot/draw defenders and dish it out, would free up opportunities for Milan (and others), and could be more enticing for Milan to return, if he's on the fence about his entire situation.

At the very least he adds experience. It usually takes non-elite freshman at least 1/2 the year to get acclimated to the college level and the speed + physicality. We wouldn't have that with Prather. We also saw in March how much experience matters
