Audi Crooks to Transfer

first of all, housing, food, utilities, expenses will all be going up 10x from todays costs. secondly, that $500k is not going into a retirement account, it is going to be spent on luxury automobiles, travel - vacations, upscale restaurants, clothing, gifts. etc. no one puts NIL into retirement. It's always "cool I have money and I am 22 - time to party".
The $500k is more than Audi makes at in Rev Share/NIL at Iowa State. So Audi already has her Porsche, cocaine, Gucci money. ;)Plus, Audi seems pretty grounded to me.

I got some outstanding news for you. In 40 years from now, prices won't be 10x current levels. Maybe 3.5x. So $8M will still be a nice chunk of change. So if you see Audi in 40 years, hit her up for a Jersey Mikes or Cody Road.

People say Crooks never got any help offensively from the guards. Maybe the guards were just dog-tired from playing 4-on-5 defense for 40 minutes and tired legs affected their shots. Like how we "ran out of gas" vs TCU.
I really get tired of hearing the "ran out of gas" line when there are 13 players on the roster and only 8 saw the court. That's like me running my truck out of gas and sitting on the side of the road when there is a full 5 gallon gas can sitting in the back.

Hare couldn't create her own shot. She was a spot up shooter that was average at best.

Harris has games where she looked like was a great scoring threat, and others where she couldn't hit a damn thing.

Brown was a major part of the offense until she got hurt. Never looked right after. Brown played a lot like Jefferson before getting hurt. She was the only one who could feed the post. Was alright at 3s although her percentage has gone down each year. Probably due to higher volume.

AJ became a threat once Brown was hurt in all reality after she got back from injury.

They were all viable threats but under used is a stretch.
This is purely anecdotal, but we never really seemed to get into a flow of hitting open shooters. AC was getting 2x, 3x, and 4x defenders on her regularly. How often was she kicking it cross court or outside to hit a wide open shooter?

Harris and Hare were both spot shooters. Seemed like we didn't get them open shots very often for a team that regularly had 2-3 defenders focused on AC.

- You mean the Kenzie Hare who went 0-7 against a below average Syracuse team, and 0-6 from 3?
- You mean the Addy Brown who went 2-11 against Syracuse, and 0-4 from 3?
- You mean the Sydney Harris who had a 38% FG percentage this year, and was 0-2 against Syracuse?
so you cherry pick one game to prove your point? You can't expect them to get hot in the NCAA's when they have been under used all season and thus lack the confidence to shoot when we need them. They were all told to pass to Audi all year. By the time NCAA rolled around most of them were dissatisfied with the offence and had 1 foot out the door already in thier minds

Note the exception of AJ here who is a Cyclone all the way.

Every team needs a couple spot up shooters so your point on Hare is not valid.

If Harris had been used consistently, she would have grown in confidence and had more good games.

Agree on Brown and AJ but, still believe that increased in vovlement would have yielded better results

Those 3 were 3rd, 4th, and 5th on the team in FGA. How many more FGA would they need to be correctly used? Take 80 shots away from Audi, and give them to Hare, Brown, Harris, would that allow them to "get hot" in the tourney?

That's the sad thing, you would hope some of them would have someone in their life that would be the voice of reason with them and help them invest a good chunk of this money instead of blowing a lot of it in the short term on depreciable things. Having someone in their circle they respect and listen to that are advising them "hey this sports thing may be over sooner than you realize so putting this money into investments now is going to set you up nicely if your playing days are over sooner than you think they might be."

It's not about any one number of attempts, it's about mentally knowing that they are part of the scoring plan and getting a fare number of chances to contribute to that plan.

When the ball is taken into 1 star 95% of the time, it's reasonable to expect an unhappy and under confident rest of the group.

I don't know why people are surprised by that and why we sit in the situation we do today.

What is Bill doing today?
Obviously working the portal aggressively-I hope.
However, I believe it gets back to the Head Coaches getting out there and calling WBB donors friendly to their needs and discuss what is needed for the next step. Not the AD.
ISU MBB, Wrestling have been active at it, and it shows.
The Michigan coach literally got on the phone after he was hired and raised their ceiling.
No, ISU does not have that large financial base, however they have some hidden gems in there, worth extra millions combined.

We will have a multi-player offense. No sure we will have enough talent to make it a "multi-threat' offense. I am not very optimistic we are going to be able to convince "talent" to come here right now given the situation.

In the past ten seasons there are a handful of transfers offering better than serviceable numbers. Topped by Jada Williams, Belanger, Soares, Middleton, and Bowe. The WBB program may, or may not, have money to offer incoming talent (one of the reasons fans toss out crazy beliefs on payouts-they are not getting accurate info). So, next season comes with low/no expectations and will likely bear strange fruit.

Iowa State has between 800k and 1 mil NIL for women's basketball. Got 9 or 10 spots to fill be interested in who they get.

Hope she strikes the balance between living a little large and also putting back a nice chunk of this life-changing money she will most likely get for only a short window of her life.

UCLA just won a championship. Their C took 23.2% of the team's shots. Audi took 25.8% of ISU's.

If anything, a bigger issue was how many shots JW took. She shot close to as much as Audi, but made a lower % (especially 3pt %), than just about everyone else. To be fair, JW had a higher ceiling when good, and could actually get her own shot, even if she didn't make as many of them.

I'm going to reply to myself here to clarify that I'm not saying that Audi didn't deserve her points. She could have gotten 20-25 points a game and we still have run more plays for our shooters to foster more team involvement.

The issue is we have a coach who won't do that!!
If you look at the stats…Crooks took right at 25% of the teams shots this year. That clearly shows the guards were getting lots of opportunities. She put up 493 shots out of 1974 taken. The guards getting shots wasn’t an issue. Making them in conference play (most of the time)was.

Jackson, Hare and Harris were all at or around 40% 3pt shooters. Alli Tanke won the 3point contest like 3 months before coming to ISU but never saw the court. If Audi ever passed the ball to open teammates (a career almost 1:2 Assist to turnover ratio), more of her teammates would have had a chance to shoot.
They were all hot and cold, one night they would hit 12 three pointers the next night it would be 4. When you had Audi in the middle you have hit shots from the outside to keep them from crashing everything down on her. When we hit the shots we were very good, but there were half the games we could not hit the side of the barn from three point distance.
As much as people like to blame Bill here, the players have to produce when they are on the floor, if someone like Tanke was hitting shots she would have played more, but she was not, so she sat most of the year. The players that produced game in and game out were Jada and Audi, with Brown the first half of the year, the others were great one night and then horrible the next.

The fact that your center had the fourth best number of assists should say something. Her assist to turnover ration this year was .68:1. Turnovers for a post have to be graded in a much different way than a point guard. Tanke lost playing time because she was slow and thinking she deserved playing time for making undefended threes is a new one. As has been documented here…Crooks’ teammates took 75% of the team’s shots. Them not getting opportunities to shoot wasn’t an issue.

Not sure this is a hill you want to die on.. 3 point contest != in-game shots.

She played 13 mins/game in 24/25 & only hit 30% of her 3's. That's not going to cut it in P4 basketball, especially when that's her specialty.

Consistency/efficiency is critical, especially among the starting 5. Audi was the only player on the roster who met that need

Jada was a solid assist PG. But she was wildly erratic as a shooter and turnovers. Even Addy was an erratic shooter.

But something happened between December and March with this team. Coaching, chemistry, roster build...

They were probably hot and cold because one game they were able to get up 3 shots and the next only 1. if they didnt have a ballhog on their team, they could've had the chance to be more consistent.

its 100% Bill's fault. His "force the ball to Audi every time down" gameplan was a horrible one and he never made adjustments.
