***2026-27 Mens College Basketball Thread***

While these way too early rankings are great to see Otz has this program nationally relevant, these rankings will change significantly once the portal and nba draft decisions dust settles

If Michigan is #1 again in ranking for next year, I assume they are still allowed to get away with moving screens.

I am no doctor but guy can't come back in December after wrist surgery?
No real reason to when it’s his shooting hand. Still getting paid his NIL money and if it takes awhile to get his shooting touch back no reason to put that on display for the scouts to see.

And I wouldn't be shocked if he entered the portal after not playing next year. Just depends on where's the best deal.

Updated list, Clones now at #11:

What am I missing here? Is this just simply confidence in TJ? Cause we have a lot of holes to fill for next season. The guys coming in seem like good pickups, but you never know how it’ll all mesh.

Or, is it just the CBB is messed up and every season is going to be a rebuild for everyone all over the country?

Both.

That's kinda it.

What a fun era of ISU men's BB.
We may not live up to expectations, just as can happen in March Madness, but it is refreshing to be continually included in the top echelon. Looks to be another season of exciting action and although we've added pieces of unknown quality we return a solid core to build from just as last year. We have an identity--and although other teams are also adding pieces some are relying on a complete rebuild and we've seen how some of them have worked out. Assembling a "dream team" may get you there, but consistency may also keep you in the hunt. Think Houston--most always in the hunt: the players change but the program doesn't. I like what TJ is maintaining at ISU

We have also faced and lost to that eventual national champion four of those five times:

- 2000 Michigan State in Elite 8
- 2005 North Carolina in round of 32
- 2012 Kentucky in round of 32
- 2014 Connecticut in Sweet 16

I would guess that is the most during that time period at least within your region.

Another example (among many) of how even when we have a really good team, we can't catch a break.
