Audi Crooks to Transfer

More of a WBB fan in general, sorry. I cheer for lots of teams across the country. Will cheer hardest for ISU when Bill is finally gone. Primarily a fan of good coaches above all else. Huge Creighton WBB fan for example.

Girl from Ankeny is going to Creighton next year. Elite athlete. You’ll have fun watching her.

I mean, I root for the Twister Sisters as much as anyone here, but I gotta say....

Not sure the quoted above is a viable description for any real life person on planet earth. If it is, not sure that it should be.

What else are you a fan of in the wbb offseason? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say punting in general and really slow-paced balding mbb coaches in general, I presume?

I guess I’m a little confused by all of the negative comments toward CBF here. Maybe he is awful, but again his overall track record suggests he probably deserves to have a statue or his name on something…and Jamie has repeatedly shown a willingness to remove coaches who have outstayed their welcome or just aren’t getting it done. Does anyone have any actual insider knowledge…not just hearsay or assumptions?

It's the lack of transparency element and deflection for me when it comes to Pollard and not wanting to step on any toes which makes the situation frustrating. He has also done a lot for Iowa State athletics in his time here. Both of these things can be true.

You must not have been around for ISU WBB pre BF. I was there in mid 80's and one of my responsibilities was to set the official attendance. I could have literally counted the fans as it was always below 200, but would just set a guess, then add 30-40 to make it slightly better.
There were losing seasons to around .500 at best. NCAA tourney was in infancy, but was but a dream for ISU. BF was the only coach to be able to turn that around and deserves the accolades for that. His consistency of some success is levels better than what was before. They were essentially ISU football version in WBB.
Having said all that, I do believe his time has come and gone and he should step aside (with dignity and pride).
He should have retired 5 years ago and would have been remembered fondly. Not now unfortunately.

Not into other sports lol. WBB/WNBA fan and that's it.

In Jan Jensen's 2nd season, Iowa finished 2nd in the B1G and made it to the B1G championship (6th appearance in 8 seasons). With Iowa's youngest team since 2013....

Iowa will be a Top 10 team in the pre-season rankings and Top 3 in the B1G, even with 5 kids headed to the portal. Jan has expanded her recruiting footprint from Atlanta to Alaska to California, even landing the #6 kid in the country whose 2nd option was South Carolina. Jan has also gotten #1 kids in the country to visit IC (Kaleena Smith and Kate Harpring) the past two years. Unheard of stuff in IC.

Carver-Hawkeye was voted the hardest place to play in the B1G this year by B1G student athletes and regularly appears on "Top 5 Environments" lists.

Iowa has come a long way, and has a bright future -- especially compared to Iowa State right now. ISU is lucky they beat Iowa this year because tbh it's looking like it's going to be an 2-8 record vs Iowa for the decade come this fall...
Iowa has come a long way from where exactly? Coach Stringer had great teams in the 80s & 90s so I guess I'm confused

I was there for Becker days. Caution taped sections like place was a crime scene.

Coming to every game hoping not a win but to lose respectably.

But I also agree for all the good he has done here it's time.

It feels like everyone wants to blame someone here for WBB not being what they want it to be.

It’s not a revenue sport and probably therefore doesn’t deserve more money. I’m still happy the girls get to play on a big stage. If someone has an opportunity to move on and make a bunch of money, I think that’s fine…especially in a situation like this where their professional prospects likely aren’t great.

I would be also be very concerned that there is a real possibility that the program does much worse after Bill leaves. This is not as bad as it could get…

WOW, comparing her to Fizer is brutally offensive to Marcus. Audi's skill set was to be larger than all the other players, catch the ball right at the basket and bounce it off the glass for two points or get fouled and maybe make a free throw. I struggle to type the world "skill" next to her name. Her size was the only thing that makes her special and everything else about her game was sub-par. She was brutally overrated and I'm much more bothered about losing truly "skilled" players like Addy and Jada, sigh.
Then you don't know basketball. She has elite hands in corralling and controlling questionable passes, she has very good foot work and set up positional skills. She is very adept at going left or right (you would hope college players can, but a lot can't) and she has good/adequate passing skills for a big.
Now, she has lots to work on too (even on offense). In my opinion, she was too soft and rarely finished through contact. As season went on, she seemed to dramatize the contact and went to the floor a lot. And then there is her defense and conditioning.

He’ll be remembered fondly. That’ll never change.

I do remember what Iowa State WBB was before him. Absolute zero of a program, all respect to those trying to change things before him. My sister was in school in ‘93 and they were having open tryouts to get more players.

Iowa women’s b-ball still lost $3.7 mil last fiscal year…

I don’t think kids today have a problem with being pushed and challenged so long as they’re treated respectfully as adults (since they are adults at that point)- this seems to be TJ’s approach to his players. I think Bill’s approach is to be very dictatorial in the way things are done, and if it’s not done his way it’s a you problem and you’re riding pine for the rest of the season
Newer generations got raised on "accountability" from all angles. Pointing out mistakes and getting taught/coached to fix them. Things are very instruction and example-led now, that's what leadership looks like today. That's in schools, that's in the workplace, it's everywhere now.

Yelling for the sake of yelling does not establish accountability. That mindset is long gone. Collective learning and collective accountability is the now and the future.

It's a lost leader, few if any schools are making money with WBB, the media money is poor, the tickets are cheap. Just no way to make up the cost of travel and scholarships, coaches salaries and running the program. Two years ago the squawks women program went to the finals and the mens were horrible, but the MBB made money and the women lost millions. Until the media money improves, they will all lose money.
