Audi Crooks to Transfer

It's worse than I thought, but we have finished in the top 8 2/3 years and Dresser finally has his footing. I don't think we will dominate the sport, but competing for trophy every few years is definitely doable.

Sure that’s possible. And my point is simply that with the numbers and budgets for both sports, that kind of finish is similar to a sweet 16 or so for WBB, and the top tier is just as far if not farther away from the wrestling program as the top tier of WBB.

The point is simply that you can’t say “WBB is an extremely top heavy sport we can’t actually compete in so who cares?”, when it’s literally the exact same thing on the wrestling side.

Yeah they got 4th 2 years ago. That was the first time in the top 10 in 15 years.

4th out of ~75 is pretty good, top 5% of teams.

WBB finished #10 in 22 and the sweet 16. 10 out of ~350, pretty good, top 3% of teams.
Now do this year’s stats.

Enough people care to raise $1-2M per year to fund the NIL & training center.
That doesn’t help with operating costs though. Wrestling still lost over $2 mil last fiscal year.
I go to wrestling matches at Hilton. I enjoy the sport. I’m just saying if we’re talking about devaluing or defunding sports to make sure football and men’s bb are nationally competitive, then wrestling should be on the table as much as women’s basketball…

And for all that they were able to eek out the win against FDU.
In Jan Jensen's 2nd season, Iowa finished 2nd in the B1G and made it to the B1G championship (6th appearance in 8 seasons). With Iowa's youngest team since 2013....

Iowa will be a Top 10 team in the pre-season rankings and Top 3 in the B1G, even with 5 kids headed to the portal. Jan has expanded her recruiting footprint from Atlanta to Alaska to California, even landing the #6 kid in the country whose 2nd option was South Carolina. Jan has also gotten #1 kids in the country to visit IC (Kaleena Smith and Kate Harpring) the past two years. Unheard of stuff in IC.

Carver-Hawkeye was voted the hardest place to play in the B1G this year by B1G student athletes and regularly appears on "Top 5 Environments" lists.

Iowa has come a long way, and has a bright future -- especially compared to Iowa State right now. ISU is lucky they beat Iowa this year because tbh it's looking like it's going to be an 2-8 record vs Iowa for the decade come this fall...

It’s dumb to talk about cutting either of them. They will be there until the end.

Of they are on good shape and I commend them for keeping their fan support crazy high even after CC left town. I’m just saying let’s not go overboard here.

It’s all about the money. Pollard apparently can’t afford to replace WBB HC. Are the assistants protected? Would losing them convince BF to retire? 26-27 is a throw away season. Save money anyway you can.

The assistants would have contracts

I would guess anything buyout of CBF also would cost money to buy out assistants. So money needed to make a change gies to not only CBF but also hus assistants and then also the new staff.

Ah, a new Iowa troll on the board. I love it when they come in when the going is a little tough over here and they feel all high and mighty.

More of a WBB fan in general, sorry. I cheer for lots of teams across the country. Will cheer hardest for ISU when Bill is finally gone. Primarily a fan of good coaches above all else. Huge Creighton WBB fan for example.

I’ve never understood the Fennelly love that a lot of fans have given Bill over the years, as he’s never accomplished anything meaningful in 30 years now, but Bill should have been gone many years ago. How he can still be employed at ISU after almost the entire team transfers out is unacceptable. Jamie has to force him out now.
You must not have been around for ISU WBB pre BF. I was there in mid 80's and one of my responsibilities was to set the official attendance. I could have literally counted the fans as it was always below 200, but would just set a guess, then add 30-40 to make it slightly better.
There were losing seasons to around .500 at best. NCAA tourney was in infancy, but was but a dream for ISU. BF was the only coach to be able to turn that around and deserves the accolades for that. His consistency of some success is levels better than what was before. They were essentially ISU football version in WBB.
Having said all that, I do believe his time has come and gone and he should step aside (with dignity and pride).

I think that's fair. I do enjoy both sports, but I think wrestling has more upside in large part because of the history and the smaller number of D1 teams.

So maybe, just maybe… the kids aren’t the problem.
I don’t think kids today have a problem with being pushed and challenged so long as they’re treated respectfully as adults (since they are adults at that point)- this seems to be TJ’s approach to his players. I think Bill’s approach is to be very dictatorial in the way things are done, and if it’s not done his way it’s a you problem and you’re riding pine for the rest of the season

I love wrestling, but man the injury thing has just really sapped my interest. Seems like everybody is just limping along at the end.
