Audi Crooks to Transfer

If it makes people feel better complaining on CF, go at it.

But Jamie has watched Bill Fennelly coached teams for over 20 years. If JP had a "style" concern, he would have pushed Fennelly out by now.

No amount of discord is going to result in a change. Hopefully, Fennelly and staff embrace building a team from basically scratch and fans have a team that is fun to watch.

At least the next few weeks of crazy portal action should be fun to watch and comment on!

Puts together a team of humble guys who put in the work and are good people.
And so you’re saying Fennelly can’t find humble people that work hard? I think that’s true with some of them as their egos are a wee bit large, but others…probably most…seem to be good people. The thing TJ does is lay it out there…commit to doing things my way or don’t come.

Good adjective. I heard a noun from someone in the know -- "a cancer."
One player was a cancer? Or the whole locker room? You can tell they weren’t interested in continuing the season by the big 12 tourney and ncaa tourney game.

To be good in wrestling or women's basketball all you have to do is want to. Meaning be willing to spend more money than most others. It was cute and all before NIL but those days are over and until they come back we have to prioritize Football and Men's Basketball. Or drop down a level.

It's so interesting to see people compare Otz to Fennelly in terms of "building a roster of humble hardworking players." It may be that age is a factor. TJ is much closer to the age of his players than Bill is. I do respect Bill, but his style of coaching and method of building/developing a roster may be outdated at this point.

TJ does his weeding out process with the words..."we start June 1 with 5:00am workouts at the soccer field" You are either committed or you aren't here and it doesn't matter who you are.

You’re the one saying it! You’ve been making the “kids now won’t do this” when we have MANY examples on the men’s side under TJ.

I’m just saying you’re trying to give Bill a free pass here by blaming the kids.

It can't get any more obvious to any unbiased observer that Bill's time is long passed due. Now with him sticking around, we're looking at back-to-back total rebuild years, barring him getting another extension while approaching age 70.

The time to move on and restructure the program, the coaching, the funding, all of it is right now. This is the optimal window to make the hard choices. The vast majority of the damage is already done.

Agreed. Wrestling lost over $2 mil in the latest fiscal year. We aren’t competitive for a national championship, and haven’t been for a long time.
If we’re talking money pits in the ISU athletic dept, wrestling is a big one, as is women’s b-ball.
You do realize we were a trophy team just 2 years ago. 4th in 2024.
Wrestling/Dresser also raises a lot of money to support the program. Wrestling loses 1/3 of what women's basketball loses each year and the coaches don't even come close to making what CBF makes combined.

Yep you only have to look over to Iowa City and see what can happen when you start spending more money on a program like they have done with their WBB team. Get the once in a generation player and then start pumping money into the program, winning brings out the fans and the donations start to roll in. Once the player that cause it all leaves, then continue to support the program with higher NIL and bring in the replacements that are higher skilled those most of the players out on the floor before.
So the one thing you need to do win, is the one thing ISU does not have, MONEY.

Could the problem not be potentially both. Could be on the coach, Could be on the player, Could be coach vs player, heck Could be player vs player and not involve the coach at all. My guess is it Could be all three. The players now get to move freely to a new team so the really hold the cards.

And for all that they were able to eek out the win against FDU.
