How are the Volunteer fans?

Worst fan I dealt with was actually one of ours which was upsetting; legitimately was talking down on our team the whole game. Did not stop talking from tip off. It was so bad we scoped out a different spot and moved for the 2nd half.

I'm glad most of you that went seemed to have a good experience with them overall. There's nothing more of a buzzkill than losing and having awful fans of the opposing team make a scene and rub salt in the wound.
The good ones I feel like are always the ones in the hotel the next day where you can chat with over coffee/breakfast/whatever.
Most of them seemed to be pretty optimistic about actually beating Michigan because their boards were saying May is in DEEP talks with UNC. (Even if true, we all saw that outcome)

Everyone is an "Insider."

Not in person but a guy who I meet on random morning walks here in Florida is a Tennessee guy. He always has a treat for my dog.

We ran into each other a few days before and he said good luck.

Then the morning after he sends me a text about "hey did you happen to see who won the game last night?" I was not awake yet so didn't see it. Then sent me an "are you awake?" text.

Finally about 10:00 I saw it and replied something about "some guys in orange and sorry we didn't give you a better game because of our all-American being injured and unavailable." (Not saying would have won, just a better game).

Got something back about "we would have killed you even with your all American. You know the problem with your team is you don't have enough blacks."

I did not reply.

I guess he thought he was being good-natured/funny, but I would never have rubbed it in afterwards if the results were reversed.

Kind of gave me an "SEC fans are A-holes" feeling, honestly.

And I didn't send him anything after they got ass-pounded my UM. Though I considered it for a while.

Was behind a TN fan sitting with two Michigan fans. They were really going crazy with all the dunks and laughing it up when we missed a FT. I'm going to guess the TN fan wasn't so happy with his "buddies" on Sunday.

The Tennessee fans by me were fine. They barely cheered though. I heard them make comments about how loud and annoying ISU fans were since we cheered and were on our feet. They were also disappointed by our cheers. I think they expected more choreographed cheers from us.

I was not at the game, but I have dealing with Tennessee fans my entire life. I've seen them in Football, Home, Away and Neutral and a single road MBB and WBB game. I have NEVER had an issue with any of them. Well, except my last girlfriend (before I met my wife). Different story altogether! They just love the Vols like we love Iowa State. There are just more of them.

True Story: My sister (who is an Auburn fan) and myself (part-time Alabama fan) were in Atlanta for a family thing back in 1996. We had Saturday free, looked at the schedule, and Tennessee (w / Peyton Manning) was playing @ Georgia in a Night Game. so, we drove to Athens for the game, scalped tickets and went in Sanford Stadium for the game.

Sat mostly around Georgia fans, and one fella kept ******** about the Georgia QB. My sister (who didn't care either way) finally had enough, turned around and said: " Sir, which position did you play in college?" lol. That shut him up and made everybody else laugh.

On the way out of the stadium, we were walking a few paces behind a Tennessee Couple, and the lady turned to her husband and said: "These Georgia fans are AWFUL! I much prefer going to games at Alabama or Auburn, because their fans know how to behave!" lol. We just looked at each other and laughed. It is true though. Visiting fans are treated well at both places.

While judging groups of fans on one or two folks is really not fair, there are fans that are better than most, most of the time. I would personally put Tennessee in that category unless your drunk ex-girlfriend decides to call you after Tennessee beat Alabama for the 6th or 7th straight time (lost count)... For what it's worth, she did have big tits! This is funny because when my wife met her the first time, that was the first thing she said: "Damn, she has big tits!" Made me laugh out loud.

That's all folks!
