**** Official 2026 MBB Spring Transfer Portal Thread ****

Is the thought that mason Williams can be a reserve guard?

I think we need another veteran guard as the two freshman are not elite prospects, so expectations should be limited. I know Toure was around their ranking, but he is also a year older than Grey and Wiggins
I think he starts no?

I think we are all sleeping on some of next year's freshman. Wouldn't be surprised to see Gray or Kiss crack the starting lineup over Batemon. Would like to get another guard in the portal, maybe could happen if Mitchell transfers out which I think he will. Also, not idea what to think of Mason Williams. Would be a good Heise replacement with his size?

First Team:
PG: Toure
SG: Batemon
SF: Milan
PF: Buchanan
C: Transfer

Second Team:
PG: Mason Williams
SG: Yusef Gray
SF: Jackson Kiss
PF: Dom Pleta
C: Dorian Rinaldo-Kolman

Third Team:
Christian Wiggins
Kade Kelderman
Xzavion Mitchell
Anthony Rise (walk-on)

I just don’t see Buchanan in a PF role in TJ’s system. He has no ability to score against a defender 1:1. We need a guy that can back a player down and go over the shoulder to score.

Buchanan and Pleta are not PFs, they both played the 5 all year. The only exception was against Tennessee when we were down Jefferson they played a few minutes together.

Kiss wouldn’t start over Batemon, they don’t even play the same position.

I see the bigs as somewhat interchangeable depending on the matchup. I think there are games where you can use a more athletic player like Buchanan, than there are night like last night, where you just need shear size.

Also, Tennessee wasn't a good example, but I LOVE when Milan slides down to the 4 and we go small ball. Only works for certain scenarios, but it's fun to have 4 guards running around.

Good catch on Kiss, I keep thinking he's a small forward. Although at his size (6'8), he's gonna have a hard time being a center in the Big 12. Gonna need to be a PF or SF to have a chance.

Not sure what I'm going to do with my sports time now until football. Basketball portal I guess. NBA is boring and MLB lost interest. NASCAR is on here at the airport. NASCAR sucks. Heavier foot wins. Any interest I had in it cratered when I saw a guy push another team member around the track.

I would leave BB as the center and say transfer for the 4 position.

IMO, how active ISU will be in the portal will depend a lot on who leaves. And how much money ISU has to spend.

Jefferson & Lipsey's rev share comes off the books. But I expect Toure, Bateman and Pleta will expect big bumps. And guys like Momcilovic and Buchanon will probably ask for more than 2025/26. Just a reality of the marketplace.

TJ might be relying a lot on the incoming recruits. Kiss & Rinaldo-Komlan are both international kids and played at US prep schools. Kiss looks like a physical 4 and Rinaldo-Komlan a rim protector.

In Gray & Wiggins TJ has to hope he has guards who can play defense. To expect one to have a Toure level impact is a bit much, but if one can have a Batemon type impact, I think TJ would be happy.
Don't think Pleta can take much NIL money since he's from Germany?
