Iowa State is moving on to the Sweet 16 for the third time in the last five years under head coach TJ Otzelberger. The Cyclones (29-7) will take on the Tennessee Volunteers (24-11) in Chicago, Illinois, with a trip to the Elite 8 on the line. The Cyclones are seeking their first Elite 8 appearance since the 1999-2000 season.

Let's break down the remaining teams in the Midwest Region starting with Tennessee.

Who are we hoping wins MI/AR?

AR makes me think of the UCLA team we ran over in 2000…fast and high scoring until they ran into a highly coordinated, aggressive, lock down D.

They’re playing well and I think MI will be such a different style game it turns into a toss up.

It would be a tough matchup either way. Alabama feels like a BYU type of team that would give us problems. If Michigan wins and if Jefferson doesn’t play, I don’t know how ISU would line up against Yaxel

If Alabama shoots 70 shots, 65 will be from beyond the arc. They don't know anything else.

Michigan is a clearly better team from a resume and analytics standpoint. There is an over 10 point difference in Kenpom Net Rating between Michigan and Alabama (37.83 vs 27.34) which is a similar distance between Alabama and Cincinnati (17.32) for reference. Iowa St. is 32.98.

Alabama is a scary matchup because if they make their threes at a high rate they are nearly impossible to beat and they don't turn it over much.

All these teams in the article seem intimidating in there own way, but have the same author describe ISU and ask the potential opponents if they would prefer to play us

AR. Since that means we are in the F4 for sure.

If we play similar to how we did in the Kentucky game (or close to it) we win.

Watch our games in a Nevada bar
(Not the Iowa version of Nevada).
If one thing stands out in terms of comments, it's this or something similar. "Your d is f*****g amazing!"
As well, "give the ball to that European kid that never misses"
(Milan).
