Psychological advantages/disadvantages for ISU vs Tennessee

Out of 10.

Also they had some fairly favorable paths for those 4:

Arkansas got to clean up after Wisconsin's mess and only had to beat 12/13 seeds to make the sweet 16
Texas got slated into a pod where their 6 seed was gutted by injury, and then got a very overseeded Gonzaga.
Alabama looked really good, but also got a Toppin-less Tech that hasn't looked good at all its last few games coming into the tournament
Tennessee got an 11 seed that was only really in the field because of an undefeated but horrible SOS regular season, and then had to beat an ACC team to get to the sweet 16 (and if you look at the big 10's results, having an ACC team in the bracket path was a great way to get a sweet 16 berth)

On one hand i could see neutral fans rooting for the perceived underdog by seed. On the other hand, I could see big 10 fans pulling for ISU over the SEC school
Yeah MU/Bama fans probably won't be terribly loud one way or the other and ISU will probably show up better than Tennessee. I'm hoping Bama wins so 1) all the MU fans leave before the second game and 2) Sunday can really become Hilton East.

Tennessee is 6-10 in Q1 games and that’s playing in the S(hit)EC, which was overrated all season and it’s been proven by their poor play in this tournament.

We got this.
In crunch time against UVA, UTenn looked horrible but benefitted from UVA being even worse. There was a lot of poor execution by UTenn when it mattered.

I was curious so I compiled the stats of our guys through 2 games

Momcilovic: 37 pts, 9 rebs, 3 assists, 2 steals
Toure: 35 pts, 15 rebs, 7 assists, 3 steals
Heise: 34 pts, 6 rebs, 6 assists, 1 steal
Lipsey: 29 pts, 5 rebs, 12 assists, 8 steals
Buchanan: 20 pts, 15 rebs, 10 assists, 5 steals
Batemon: 11 pts, 2 rebs, 0 assists, 0 steals
Pleta: 10 pts, 5 rebs, 2 assists, 0 steals
Nelson: 10 pts, 2 rebs, 1 assist, 1 steal
Jefferson: 2 pts, 1 reb, 0 assists, 0 steals

Momcilovic and Heise have been our constants as far as scoring, with Toure and Lipsey each having one huge game. Buchanan has almost stepped into the Jefferson role as far as passing out top with a really impressive line in both games.

Overall, everyone is contributing something toward filling the void with Jefferson out, and we're still going to be a hard scout in determining who to try to stop (other than Milan as he's obvious).
Buchanan quietly flirted with triple double territory Sunday, including an astounding 8 assists. His passing ability is under-rated and we need to find a way to get the ball in his hands to find an open man.

At $1200 a pair for in the door price I don't think a lot of "casual" Cyclone fans will be ponying up for game tickets. But the well heeled will definitely be there.
More like $700 for a pair Friday night.

Remember, we have not faced a Big 12 type defense without Jefferson yet. I don't think these is that, so hopefully it won't be an issue.

I hate to say this but I'm guessing Iowa's mbb NIL might be worse than ours. But their overall AD is funded better than ours. (Except all their debt ;))
Sweet 16 NIL payments:
Duke $12.0mm
Arkansas $11.5mm
Michigan $10.5mm
St. John's $10.5mm
Arizona $9.75mm
Alabama $9.5mm
Tennessee $9.5mm
UConn $9.5mm
Illinois $9.0mm
Purdue $8.75mm
Michigan State $8.5mm
Houston $8.5mm
Iowa State $8.25mm
Texas $7.5mm
Nebraska $6.75mm
Iowa $6.25mm

Psychological advantage: we thoroughly dissected a team that they lost to twice. Plus at Chicago, where we’ll have the crowd advantage.
everyone not a cyclone fan will be rooting for Tenn. Hard to have a crowd advantage in a NCAA Tourney Game.
