This team is pissed off, hungry, and together

At the beginning of the season, I and endless others had serious doubts about Pleta and Buchanan.
Both struck me as "can't put one foot in front of the other."
Their respective improvements have made a Huge impact.
Cheering hard for both.

In terms of our "sexier" players, just hit a reasonable % of shots, 2's and 3's.

That's a darn good point. Coming into the season, I was hoping Buchanan could be a rob Jones type player and I hoped that pleta wasn't another Greek freak bust. They're so far beyond that now. Toure was an absolute stud early then hit a wall. Nelson had a run then fizzled. All of this makes me appreciate the coaches more than anything.

Totally agree. I like to think of our trapping D as something of an insurance policy vs a potential Cinderella.

The UAB loss as a 3 seed was just the opposite. When the offense evaporated, our sucky D became a massive liability.
I didn’t look up the score, but off memory didn’t we only give up like 60 points to UAB?

It was more about getting stops, rebounds, etc when needed which is what good defense (usually) does.

That game was essentially a repeat of a handful of games and sections of other games from that season where it turned into a mess on both ends once UAB made it physical in the lane.

I think that Arizona buzzer beater is going to be the best scenario for at least an Elite 8 run and hopefully Final 4. All weighs on Ames legend Lipsey healthy, JJ, Milan and Toure in tour face D. Oh, and making free throws. I wouldn't bet against this team.
I think getting embarrassed by Arizona in Arizona was the turning point or even moreso being down to Arizona State at the half in their (Tamin's) final home game. They've looked good ever since

I would replace pissed off with focused. Milan was quoted something to the effect that he was wanting to be at his best for this "group" as they are aware that this is a one and done situation and the team realizes that this group will never have this opportunity again. You'd better believe with three seniors and NIL offers probably coming for MIlan, Toure and Buchanon, they know that longevity of team rosters is now a one year deal.
