*** Official #7 IOWA STATE vs #2 Arizona Game(Day) Thread ***

There are a few losses that I’ve seen in my life where I wanted to watch it again and again because our guys came up big in a huge spot.

The first one that comes to mind is Thigpen and Bayless trading blow for blow with Mashburn and Kentucky. That game last night was just like that. Two great teams playing really well. It really was just who had the ball last.

My one worry with the NCAA Tournament is that Iowa State usually plays very well at the Hilton South tournament riding the wave of their crowd then tend to have letdowns in the big tournament. I think this team is better equipped to handle it because of the experience of the core and, most importantly, because they're healthy unlike some previous years but their overall play is night and day better now than it was a couple of weeks ago and should give us confidence that they can make a run at this.

I agree, but think after being one shot away from beating Arizona they will have their hair on fire the first game

Saw this baseline view of the buzzer beater on an Instagram video. That close. Shoutout to Toure for an amazing all around game!!

No doubt, this team is playing with a chip on their shoulder whereas it seemed like they were in a fog during the dog days of the conference season. We all knew they were capable of more and they're showing it now.

I think they will have smooth sailing until the sweet 16. Then, another dogfight against UConn, Sparty, or Illinois. We have bad history against all 3. And find a way to practice free throws this week.
It depends on matchups, the 2nd round matchup against a 7 or 10 seed which will likely be a 2nd tier power conference team could be tricky if it's a very athletic team.

The refs were letting it go both ways, we did not lose tonight because of the refs. They were letting them play the entire game. We made 14 three pointers, but shot 50% from the line, while they were 63% and shot more. If we shot free throws at 75% tonight, the game is OT, shot better than that, and we win.
I actually think we prefer the game is not so tightly called. We can be more aggressive on defense and, quite frankly, the way we shoot free throws, the less free throws we shoot, we're probably better off anyway.

I agree with this.

Which makes it more frustrating when Jefferson gets dinged with two early and gets pulled. While Arizona gets to bully.

In the words of T.J. Otzelberger: "F*** that." I want them again, because that means we're in the Final Four.
Getting to the Final Four and facing Arizona again are not mutually. Personally, I would rather face any of the other three number one seeds. I get the attitude of “getting revenge.” Just saying that ISU’s path to the Final Four will be easier if Arizona is not in their Region.

Question. Stat I just saw. Why is Arizona getting so many calls in games by the refs?

Arizona has shot 860 free throws this year. 860!!!! Duke has shot 553 free throws. Iowa state has shot 684 free throws. Houston has shot 587. If you are wondering why they are always at the line getting freebies that’s because they are.
Well they don’t shoot many threes and they attack the basket and they are huge so that may be why

By the time Saturday rolls around, Bracket Matrix will have ISU a 2 seed.

A couple of the better prognosticators on that thing have already flipped from ISU being a 3 to being a 2 .

Its gonna happen fellas
ISU is a 2 in latest bracket matrix

A solid 2 I might add
