New floor for Big 12 MBB/WBB

I am worried about this floor for the men's tournament. The guys will be running faster. If players are slipping at slower speeds, I can't imagine what may happen when running at faster speed

I give an "A" for Yormark trying something new. But sometimes being the guinea pig isn't ideal
I am not seeing any more slipping than a normal basketball game. Folks are have simply been told by others "Ahhh! See! Everyone is slipping!" and it has been a focus because people are told to focus on it.

IMHO, the court looks great, by all accounts the players have loved played on this surface (including in Europe where it is used more regularly, the NBA all-star game, etc), and being able to swap out graphics is freaking awesome.

Players have been slipping and getting on injured on wooden courts - including in Kansas City - for 100 years. Social media sh*ting on the thing - and being flooded with anti-court propaganda - is one of the weirdest and most predictable thing ever.

"OH MY GOD THEY ARE WIPING DOWN THE COURT IN SPOTS DURING TIMEOUTS AND THEN AGAIN AT HALFTIME! THIS IS A DISASTER!" (Cough, Cough - they literally do this on wood courts... every single game.)

Maybe I’m just an old dude, but seems like introducing more things that could “go wrong” to the playing surface is a bad idea.

I suppose if the thing loses power it would still function as a basketball court.

The little bit I watched it gave me the illusion of the players slightly floating above the surface as opposed to making contact. I'm sure this is a result of the glass layer and the up-lighting from the LED floor structure beneath.

You think the internet bullied the Big 12 into changing the court design?

Brett Yormark, on Feb. 13:
"The earlier rounds will have one creative application. And then as you progress...you'll have a different court -- you know, 'creative presentation' if you will -- and then we'll have something more dramatic for the finals."
Comparing the images/videos of the floor on social media to actually watching it on TV, it is pretty clear they are messing with the colors and vibrance on social media. I watched a bit of the champ game and the WV blue and TCU purple sides were very muted. Just a tinge of color but still looked gray. And changing to fake gray wood made the seams between the panels were very prominent. The stupid Roman numeral 12's at least disguised those.

I imagine it looks much better in person, but HD television accentuates the flaws.

It is interesting to see the overhead views vs the TV shots. Am guessing the way the LED are set up that the color washes out when the TV shot is from an angle.

It's the difference between standing directly in front of your TV (90 deg), and watching from the side (5 deg).

The POV angle changes what you see. You could take an overhead picture, a shot from the TV camera angle, and a shot from courtside and they'd all look different.

This is a very important point. We went to the women's game and jumped around to a few different areas of the arena. The floor had different looks depending on the exact angle and direction you were looking. Was kind of weird.

I need someone to do the DVD screensaver thing during a timeout or halftime. If the conference is desperate for cash they could sell the logo that's used and let fans wager on the corner it'll hit first.

Imagine the online gambling on that! Would be wild. I once bet my in-laws on when a shadow would hit a crack on the driveway. good times

I think the floor could be cool but it just looks shades of gray, which is pretty lame. When they are showing different angles you can see the different graphics they are trying to display but on the main camera angle is just gray.

They should have more color contrast.
