Big 12 Wrestling Tournament

What happened at the end of the Euton/Downey match? I was watching the single match with no commentators. What was the review for stalling and then all the confusion and screaming?
Double stall call by the ref which messed with his own head.

This has probably been said already, but why are we always hurt at the end of the year? MFFs on the backside are bad for us and for the sport

I’m going to be interested to see MJ and Euton’s seeds. MJ could be in the top 10. Euton maybe around 11-12?
Would like to see them in that range. Interested to hear some other takes on potential seeds for all the guys.

One injury was a head to head collision and the the other two were knee injuries that are prototypical high level college wrestling. Nothing to see here or start conversations about training or practice scheduling….

I mean, this is a really really good tournament by many accounts outside of injuries. Jacob had two weird matches but he has put way too much hay in the barn to think he can’t get his groove back. The majority look to be peaking. That’s all you can ask right now.
Agreed. While we all hoped that we had a shot at first, that was a long shot. That ship sailed with the E Frost injury. But overall a solid tournament. We got 9 qualified, and Zerban TBD. Most, even with some injuries, wrestled at or above seed.

If we have 3+ champs that solidifies a good tournament, but I expect 2.

SIAP. Did KD or anyone clarify Zerban's situation? Could we have sent him out for a second match and injury default right away to get his two matches and auto-bid? Or did he fail protocol and it would have been inappropriate to even send him out?

Would be a shame if he didn’t get an at-large and it could have been handled differently.

Dean already had the knee injury. Just got back on the mat before Mizz. I think this is why Dresser held him out of the Mizz dual and Dean was pissed.

I think a lot is to make sure it doesn't get worse, since they were already qualified for NCAA

A MFF count as a match, so he had the 2 matches required to get an at large bid

I thought you had to go out and start the match for it to count?

See, I am glad I asked since it is confusing. I also thought Vinny had “Gold” status, so is he not getting an auto allocation if he had 2 matches?

I guess I should have used the Google machine before I asked because it says you can still receive on but it’s based off your reg season wins. But I had read from others that have said otherwise so who the hell knows

The autos are given to the conference tourney. Say they gave 5 to 157. The top 5 placers at the tourney get the autos. There are 4-5 at larges for each weight for situations like Vinny’s. You just don’t want 5-6 infront of a Vinny to also not finish in the allocations.
