So did Tarkanian with Amoeba Defense.
Well then ISU should just play both UNLV '90 and Arkansas late 80s-mid 90s style 40 minutes/game every time with their players.

If it will win two NCAA championships, like 1990 and 1994 then it’s a must.Well then ISU should just play both UNLV '90 and Arkansas late 80s-mid 90s style 40 minutes/game every time with their players.

Agree. It's also incredibly hard to give that effort twice a week with incredibly difficult travel schedules. On top of that, at this point of the season they're in a position where they can't win the conference, and they're pretty much locked into the 2/3 seed.A lot of well Tech was on fire and they made tough shots ********. The tough honest truth is this team is not talented enough or good enough to come out with the cutesy trap effort and we are Iowa State so we play good defense but without any real defensive intensity like they did in the first half and win.
Guess what? You're going to run into good teams or hot treams that are going to make shots. The team has to come to realization that they need to play balls to the wall defense like they did in the second half for a full ******* game or they won't make it past the second weekend of the Tournament.
I don't care if they win in Tucson as long as they go in the game with we are going to piss pound you for 40 mins effort. That is this team's identity and that's what this team needs to do for it to reach the F4.
So weird. He shot ok early on.I think it more likely Batemon shoots better going forward. His missed shots aren't that far off. Most of Toures shots aren't even close to going in.
I've had altitude sickness. Bad. I wouldn't wish it on my enemy. They didn't look tired at Utah (collectively anyway)...word was Buchanan was sick.
Maybe if he didn't play 20 minutes in a December game he'd stop getting sick in Utah!!!

It’s not about UNLV ability or even their style of play, like Arkansas.Fun, who on ISU is going to be Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmen and Williamson in this world you live in where ISU should just do that?
It’s not about UNLV ability or even their style of play, like Arkansas.
It’s about bringing 40 minutes of defensive intensity.
Jerry Tarkanian and Especially Nolan Richardson demanded 40 minutes of their time.
You could see TJ changed his demeanor in the 2nd half vs Tech.
Wanted his guys in their faces. Pressure. High motor.
Why wait?
You’re fine with the defense in the first half against Texas TechThis may be shocking, but sometimes what a coach is calling for doesn't happen no matter how many times they 'demand' it.
Do you really think that Nolan Richardson and Tarkanian got wire to wire 40 super intense minutes of whatever style they played each game?
Just a tiny sample but how did ARK give up 101 points to a bad Tennessee team at home late in this season, or lose to NE LA at home in December?
Did he wait too long?

Got it.
You’re doing a bang up job arguing for complacency. That isn't what I said... maybe just stop making **** up to act like I did because you don't have a response to things that happened even under the best coaches.
Living in a dream land where teams are just going to play a certain way because you seem to think legendary coaches had that happen every game 30-40 years ago must be fun though.
You’re doing a bang up job arguing for complacency.
Yes.And you're great at pretending past teams of other coaches played a certain way all of the time and that ISU should just be able to as well.
Yes.
Otherwise you get
1st half Texas Tech
At Cincy
At TCU
Etc etc
NopeDo you actually think that those coaches got wire to wire intensity every game?
That's wild if so.
He shoots when he's open. He's never going to be someone to force the issue or create, and he shouldn't because he's not capable.I understand Toure losing minutes for his poor shooting and offense, but TJ needs to get on Heise for not even attempting a 3 and only 2 shots all game. He plays way too much and is our 2nd best 3 point shooter in conference games.
He shoots when he's open. He's never going to be someone to force the issue or create, and he shouldn't because he's not capable.
We need our ball handling guards to turn the corner, get downhill on drives, and stress the defense to create open looks for others.
Right now, Lipsey and Toure aren't being aggressive. The defense can easily go under on screens because they can't shoot. The defense never has to help. Batemon has been doing more of this but is sometimes out of control and not looking to kick it out.
If the other team hits shots, and we're forced to play a half court game, we aren't going to beat good teams.
Been following for 60 years and this is an elite team that can catch fire.Short answer is no, I didn't. Not retro-active at all. I know the path was there, I just didn't see Iowa State finishing the deal. I just don't think they are the best of the best and deserved a #01 seed or would be a Final Four threat. I've been following ISU basketball for 30-something years, and I do not see anything that puts this team above the best ISU team of all-time (1999-2000) which was a # 2 seed and made the Elite 8. They are good. Very good. I just do not think they are elite. Hope I am wrong though!
