*** Official #16 Texas Tech vs #4 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Nobody said get rid of packline, nobody is saying ditch the entire defense. People are suggesting making adjustments, especially against teams that move the ball well and shoot the three. Focus on straight up packline, man to man and reduce trapping.
Nothing was exposed today. Tech had the same game plan every team all season has had against us. They played a good game and also hit some lucky shots. Nothing more, and nothing less. Time to get ready for the next game. Cause when we stop trapping and helping you'll be ******** about us not creating any turnovers and our guys not being able to stop dribble drive penetration. I'll play the odds that most teams won't shoot that well against us and the more you force teams to pass they'll make a bad one. Sometimes the other team plays better and wins. It happens. Not that often against us either btw

This team has overachieved all year. I don't know why everyone is ready to jump off a ledge because they lost a game. JFC they are in the top 10. The expectations by some here are so ridiculous and unrealistic it isn't even funny. The "anything less than a final four is a disappointment" people are the funniest.
Not sure why you’re on this forum for this long and expecting rationale posts. That sh*t will just drag you down.

ISU is having a great season, It’s natural to want more. Reality and talent gaps say otherwise. It’s not an elite team, and I think it’s healthy to be pragmatic about it.

I don’t think this is a final 4 team. I think this is a sweet sixteen team.

No reason for you to be that disappointed about today then. Its not like this team is underachieving. One loss at home and people are ready to jump off a bridge. I get expectations and disappointment but this isn't even a horrible loss.

I was a bit surprised by the score and as always unless you are playing the COOGS, rooting for you to win. I always look at the box score and TT shot an unbealivable number of 3 point shots as well as 2 point shots. I wouldn't be taking this out on the team. TT is good, I don't think they are that good but give them credit. Again, I would look at this as an aberration and Tech trying their best against one of the best teams in the nation. You as well as Arizona, UH and Kansas all have targets on our back.

Well today was disappointing. Guys played hard, but after the big hole they had just couldn't get over the hump. TT shot the 3 phenomenally well, lot of loose balls bounced their way. Everything we did today was just the hard way. It sucked to lose but I'm thinking the 2nd half was pretty entertaining if you're a neutral BB fan.

That's not why we play it. We play it because that's what our coaches want to do. We would be playing that regardless of what athletes we have because our coaches feel like forcing turnover and creating easy buckets is how you win games. I agree with them. It would be even more effective with athletic players. I don't know where you get the idea that we run it because we lack athletes. Wtf are you talking about exposed? We are 24-5. You can't win them all. Exposed my ******* ass. Tech played perfect. Losing a game doesn't mean you've been exposed. Purdue probably should have just dropped basketball all together earlier this year after we exposed them. They didn't though. They managed to keep winning despite being exposed. Everybody all season tried to do what Tech did today. Nothing was exposed. It was the same game plan everyone uses against us.
Well, that went as well as I expected. I bow to your sport intelligence - I’m clearly outmatched.

I’m not. I was originally pointing out the things that will limit this team from a deep tourney run. You, as usual, took things in a different direction.

Why do the coaches allow someone to drive the lane -when there are three defensive players waiting and pick up your dribble, then turn it over-instead of kicking it out? But that would require others to follow to be in the line of sight so you could kick it-but the offense stands around and offers no help. Multiple possessions had a lane drive with four players on one side-the blind side of the ball handler. The ball handler had no help.
Nate Schmidt??

I think you're exaggerating the "jumping off a bridge" thing, x100. Fans are disappointed, which is very normal. We got our asses f*cking handed to us for much of the game today, at home, in Hilton, against a team missing it's All-American.

Sure, credit to Tech - they are a good, well-coached team that came in with a great game plan, executed well, and most importantly - played confident and composed. They have some amazing wins this year, so clearly their talent level is impressive. Fans are not disappointed though because we lost to a good team, they are disappointed with how we played. The team wearing black today played with a greater sense of urgency, more desperation, and more confident. The team in white only did that in spurts. That's a tough pill to swallow.

And playing that way today especially may have cost us a double bye in the Big 12 tournament. So yeah, losing today sucked. Horrible loss? On paper, of course not. Tech literally beat Duke, Arizona, etc. Given what was on the line? (Being alive for a 1 seed, aforementioned double bye in the B12 tourney) - it would be very weird if a diehard fan was not to be bummed about how the Cyclone players and coaches performed today.

And for the fans that are REALLY pissed off and jumping off a proverbial cliff - kinda get it. 7.5 days ago, we were given a mountain of respect by the committee being picked as a 1 seed. It would have been very cool and more importantly - very valuable to our brand - to continue to win and play well and actually get that 1 seed.

Man Tech had played arguably the best schedule in the country. And beaten lots of good team.
Toppin is gone I know, but the are well coached.

100-1 for 20 bucks might not be that crazy
It’s all about win equity. Which they certainly have.

Similar priced teams include

North Carolina 80-1
Virginia 90-1
Vanderbilt 90-1
Louisville 90-1
Wisconsin 100-1
Kentucky 100-1
BYU 120-1

Just seems they Pop Out vs that group
