No reason for you to be that disappointed about today then. Its not like this team is underachieving. One loss at home and people are ready to jump off a bridge. I get expectations and disappointment but this isn't even a horrible loss.
I think you're exaggerating the "jumping off a bridge" thing, x100. Fans are disappointed, which is very normal. We got our asses f*cking handed to us for much of the game today, at home, in Hilton, against a team missing it's All-American.
Sure, credit to Tech - they are a good, well-coached team that came in with a great game plan, executed well, and most importantly - played confident and composed. They have some amazing wins this year, so clearly their talent level is impressive. Fans are not disappointed though because we lost to a good team, they are disappointed with how
we played. The team wearing black today played with a greater sense of urgency, more desperation, and more confident. The team in white only did that in spurts. That's a tough pill to swallow.
And playing that way today especially may have cost us a double bye in the Big 12 tournament. So yeah, losing today sucked. Horrible loss? On paper, of course not. Tech literally beat Duke, Arizona, etc. Given what was on the line? (Being alive for a 1 seed, aforementioned double bye in the B12 tourney) - it would be very weird if a diehard fan was not to be bummed about how the Cyclone players and coaches performed today.
And for the fans that are REALLY pissed off and jumping off a proverbial cliff - kinda get it. 7.5 days ago, we were given a mountain of respect by the committee being picked as a 1 seed. It would have been very cool and more importantly -
very valuable to our brand - to continue to win and play well and actually get that 1 seed.
