*** Official #16 Texas Tech vs #4 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Anybody go undeated at home this year?

Duke and Miami of Ohio, anyone else?

Michigan lost to Bucky
Zona lost to Tech I think.
Kansas lost to a couple of teams.
Tech lost to Kansas.

1 loss isn't horrible, and its not like they lost to Kansas State last year.

They played poorly though no disagreement there
Did they also lose to Cincy? And to TCU?
And to BYU without Saunders who have since been boat raced by UCF and right now by West Virginia?

This game just points out how any of the better teams can be beaten when the other team is making their shots. Our kids played hard, they were a little sloppy, but we scored enough points to win a game like this against most teams. It's just hard as hell to overcome the other team making 14 three pointers. A quick look shows that TT is ranked 24th in the country in made 3 points, averaging 11.4 per game. Alabama leads the nation at 13 per game, well TT made 14 tonight on our home floor.

Honest question that may not have a great answer.....do you think it's simply confidence at this point? For him and Lipsey both? I've never fully trusted Toure's outside shot, but early on it was good enough to keep people honest.
I don’t think it is a confidence issue . Both Lipsey and Toure are not good natural shooters. Their FT percentage are bad for guards and their missed jump shots are not even close.

So if it isn’t a bad loss in the eyes of the tournament committee then who cares. Tech shot out of their minds late in the shot clock, against better second half defense.
Its a loss that can make you question how far this team can go is all I'm saying. I don't think it hurts much in terms of seeding or anything like that. Win the Big 12 tourney and nobody remembers this.

This one hurts cause we’re likely playing Wednesday in KC now.

I don’t think we can fall to a 3 seed in NCAA, but lose to ASU and Wednesday in big 12 and maybe.

Not having confidence changes how you play offensively. I don't know how anyone playing college basketball at that level can not hit even mid range shots. You see it all the time though.

Agreed, but I am disappointed that part of our strategy early on (or at least our execution of it) actually GAVE them those open looks from three based on our traps. So imo we had a role to play on why they made so many.

They are both elite defensively but limited offensively, especially Toure.

I’d much rather be a 2 than 3. It does suck this team had total control of their destiny and could have been a 1 seed but like every TJ team, they pissed down their leg the second next level expectations hit. They do better when expectations get lowered or they’re being overlooked
If we can't get out of the second weekend I'll be really down.

At this point i'm thinking, if TJ cannot get to an elite 8 with this group, when is he going to do it? You have an elite player in Josh Jefferson, strong point guard, and the nation's best 3 point shooter in Milan. This is an important March for TJ's career, it just is.

This would have been meltdown city in the sweet 16 round game, but it's a game on Feb. 28th. Gotta regroup for a March run. We are about to see how 'together' this team is.

I’m not arguing, the thing with the tournament is that it’s unpredictable as everyone knows. If you get a higher seed, stay relatively healthy, you should have decent matchups for the first 2-3 rounds…in theory.

I have always said, if you are a top 4 seed, sweet 16 and then see what happens

I just don’t know any more. Monday isn’t even worth watching, and Arizona State almost isn’t either, for the opposite reason. I just ran an mred that would have you playing ASU or Baylor in Kansas City, then Kansas. gulp. I’d like another crack at Tech as I don’t think they’d get those late shot clock shots to drop in a second game, but at this point there’s going to be minimal momentum going into the tournant. Maybe they’ll at least avoid Michigan now? The “early exit” people are nuts, but what I see now is very similar to the 2 seed team that lost to Illinois
