Awesome. Will keep an eye out for early reports about USC, Oregon, Nebraska, Maryland, UCLA, Rutgers, Washington being forced out of the B1G. Seems like that'll be a big story. I guess my thinking or the thinking of people who, you know, dabble in marketing and branding would be that the addition of programs like USC and Oregon in football would effectively enhance the B1G's brand identity. Thanks for setting us straight.
Non of these schools care about being in the BIG. They do care about money and ability to stay relevant. It looked bleak during the PAC negotiations, therefor took the BIG lifeboat (as would anyone). If a model was presented to College football I wouldn't be surprised if they voted for the new model that was regional based? It has to make Cents but none of those teams are die on the vine BIG.
Tripling the revenues is not a sure thing! Also...if everyone has the same revenues...NO ONE gets ahead! When have you seen these college ADs and presidents tell their "constituents" that their goal is to be equal to everyone else? The reason we are in this situation is because schools are trying to get ahead! Not trying to be fair to others...and certainly not equal to others! Reality will dictate this...not hopes!
I don't disagree about USC, Oregon, et al not being ride-or-die B1G.
I'm just glad we finally have confirmation from @cykadelic2 that this new 7x10 college football model WILL happen and that it's going to happen in the not-so-distant future. Looking forward to the first articles sounding the alarms that the B1G and SEC and Big 12 are to begin offloading institutions. That's going to be a massive story. I don't imagine the SEC is going to be too happy about having to dump Texas and Oklahoma along with a few other looooong-time member schools. Those will be some fun Finebaum shows to catch.
Every time I see his predictions on how college football will be turned on its head to create a level playing field for all conferences and 70 schools it reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer tells Jerry he's going to put in levels at his apartment, different levels all over the apartment with carpet and lots of pillows.
Kramer: "It's a simple job. Why, you don't think I can?"
Jerry: "Oh no, it's not that I don't think you can. I know that you can't, and I'm positive that you won't."
Just substitute levels with the 7x10 CFB model. Lol.
There is so much corruption in college athletics right now. Always has been but more now than ever due to more $$$. I bet if you gave truth serum to the BIG and SEC commissioners, there are several teams in their conference they'd like to bounce. For the SEC If GA, Bama, Auburn, a couple others said "we'd support the smaller conference" model. Hell he'd deliver the message next day and sleep like newborn.
Yeah but doing that takes away automatic conference Ws for the top half programs and makes their schedule way, way tougher. I don't think they'd willingly sign up for that. Conferences need cannon fodder to be successful.
LOL, you have no flippin clue about what bifurcation refers to. It is conferences separately bidding out rights instead of pooling them and bidding them out in strategic bundles where multiple bidders can be engaged for both regular season and CFP like the NFL does. That obviously doesn’t now exist.
Yeah I am confused. Since bifurcation means divided into two parts. How is your use of the word correct? Last time I checked, every conference bids out their rights independently.

You have no effin clue on the purpose, rationale and impact of FBS media rights pooling and why amending the SBA is being pursued. 7x10 realignment will optimize the pooling with multiple bidders.

Each conference bidding separately has resulted in a split of SEC/B10 vs everyone else. Pooling FBS rights enables doubling of revenues for everyone with an element of unequal revenue sharing from the pool based on TV ratings that likely maintains revenue advantages for the SEC/B10.
The SEC and Big Ten are definitely going to be good with the 'trust me bro' model for future revenue.
