I’d wager there won’t be ANY ev cars on the road that are 30+ years old. I’m still driving a 65 Mustang with the original engine. One rebuild in it. Know a guy that has a late 60’s Shelby he uses as a daily driver and always has. Mechanical cars will always be easier to maintain over their lifespans.
Want to support that in any single way? Like an actual source?

There is no way for you to know that will the way in the future. EVs are only getting better.

That's literally the exact opposite. EVs require far less maintenance than an ICE.

Switching out cars for horses now would actually be kind of sick.
The Amish will welcome you with open arms. Always interesting when you get down S of Oskaloosa you drive through that area of Amish almost always meet buggies on the road.

It sure would but our country is no longer equipped to switch back. In any urban area there is not room nor facilities for housing the animals.
Turn those parking garages into stables. :)
My goodness there would be a lot of manure generated by moving mass transit back into horse powered carriages in a city the size of the NYC

My last sedan went from 25+mpg to barely 19mpg (24% reduction) over the 16 years I had it. Thats the same curve. Almost every machine gets ****ier as it ages.

I'm not sure why you keep posting in this thread, what are you trying to accomplish?

Agree with you on this, I'm probably a few yrs away from trying a full electric vehicle, but I check this thread regularly and don't feel the need to come in a poop all over it. Do I ask a occasional question sure, but I read the responses and don't just blindly argue about them.

I think @acoustimac point is being missed. The cars in the time frame he is talking about require maintenance BUT it was simple maintenance that a semi competent person could do on their own. From my limited knowledge there aren't many EV owners doing much on their own. Other than maybe filling up the windshield fluid. When stuff goes wrong it needs a specialized shop.
@acoustimac apologies in advance for making assumptions

But that's the thing, EVs have very little that can go wrong. ICE vehicles have 10x the number of fail points. Sure, the average person could fix some of those failures but EV owners don't have to deal with those headaches. The ICE vehicle service industry is making billions off of all of these fail points. It's another point of push back against EVs because it threatens so many people's livelihoods.

Says more about your maintenance or probably lack there of. Though also the switch to E10 in Iowa too. Ethanol really is a crap fuel all around.

I’m gonna ask you to leave this thread @motorcy90 or I’ll ask the mods to remove your posts once AGAIN.

Just leave.
The thread is when do you think you'll buy an ev. Theres plenty of reasons why people dont. I mean if you don't like whats being said you could also stop responding yourself.

That’s a laughable response if I ever saw one. Try to ask me to substantiate something that you can’t even substantiate. We already know that mechanical cars dating back over 100 years are still on the road. We know that they are sustainable. We do not know due to a lack of data how long battery cars will actually stay on the road or be delegated to the junk yard like so many “modern” cars. Today’s cars are designed to be disposable.

100% accurate. I can do everything to my ‘65, but my modern hybrid isn’t designed to make anything easy to work on. Modern brake systems require a computer to unlock them just to change brake pads.

Well thats also because people would never use their parking brakes when appropriate.

EVs require less maintenance. That's a known fact. Modern ICE vehicles definitely require more maintenance.
Didn’t read my post did you? Much of the parts that require regular maintenance and replacement are exactly the same on ev and gas vehicles. Brakes, tires, suspension, etc

Arguing maintenance costs of ICE vs EV is a losing battle. Every scientific study proves EVs are superior to ICE in maintenance costs.

Tires get replaced more often on EVs even due to the weight and wear.
