Chicago Bears bought Arlington Heights track only to build in Indiana?

Hammond/Gary is a dump and not the easiest to get to. Can’t see too many non football events going there rather than soldier, at least during the warmer months.

Wolf Lake area, really? Fuel depots and industrial sites galore. Wonder how many superfund cleanup sites that place has. I feel myself getting cancer from just looking at an aerial of the place.

Not to mention Interstate access is horrible to that whole area and general lack of surface streets that will be able to handle game day traffic.

It is 51 miles from Halas Hall in Lake Forest, IL to the proposed site in Hammond, IN. At best that is about a 1 hour drive for everyone associated with the team. Its basically a road game to play at your home stadium.

Just have Indiana build a new one

My guess is the Bears will find someone to foot the bill for a "new" Halas Hall and practice/training facility on Southside of Chicago.

Honestly, not that much longer from Halas Hall to Green Bay at that point -- 2 hours 30 or so.

As I think I said earlier on this thread, I'm not sure why the Pleasant Prairie area isn't an option if the main goal is not-Illinois. Wisconsin just past the border is much closer to Halas Hall (and presumably players/coaches homes) than Hammond, as well as closer to the higher-income North Shore burbs. I'm not sure the Bears-Packers rivalry would allow the Bears to be in Wisconsin, but other than that, it makes a lot of sense to me.

(I'm a Lake County, Illinois resident, where Halas Hall is, but as a Miami Dolphins fan, I have no stake in this except traffic.)

I've been a season ticket holder for 20+ years and live in Evanston. For a Sunday noon game (which is what most games are) we leave the house between 9 and 9:30 and it takes us a glorious 25-30 minutes via Lake Shore Drive to get to our tailgate lot east of the Field Museum. The ride hone after the game is usually around 45 minutes. This Indiana stadium would easily add another 30+ minutes to the trip if not more.

What if you get a boat?

Seriously the NFL should step in if the Bears actually think Indiana is realistic. Just more idiotic rich people with no idea how most people live.

Chicago radio saying it's already a done deal provided the Indiana building site has no unforseen issues (read environmental), which I think may be a BIG open question. Illinois thought Indiana was just a bargaining chip, but apparently it was them.

I’d be curious how many fans the bears would loose with them making this move to Indiana.

None. Pretty freaking loyal fan base. They would still be the Chicago Bears. Still in Chicagoland. Besides, I still don't think they're leaving the area around Soldier.
