House of the Dragon

Just finished season 2. One thing I missed was why they left the wall to seek out the wildlings. Just because? This is the first time I’ve seen Peter Dinklage in a show. He is fantastic. And does queen cercei Lannister disrobe on camera eventually? :p

It's been a while, but I think it was because a lot of weird things have been happening and they're just looking for answers.

Just finished Season5 of GOT. What they did to Jon Snow was just not right!! Seems like dying characters are far outnumbering new ones

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premiered last night as the latest show set in Westeros. Very different tone than GoT or HotD, but to me that’s a welcome change for a shorter runtime and just a six episodes. Hope it stays there totally or close to it. Looking forward to the rest of this season.

On my to watch list. Sounds like HBO is trying for a more character driven, lower budget show with this. Glad to hear it might be a good change of pace.

Knight of the Seven Kingdoms finale is this Sunday and I can't recommend it enough. If you haven't tuned in it should be an easy and fun binge to catch up with only 5 episodes that are like 30-40 minutes each. Fun to be in Westeros with something that has stakes but is not as self-serious as HOTD.

I heard there is suppose to be a teaser for the new HOTD season today and thought that is why this thread was bumped.

But I echo the sentiment that KOTSK is good. The adventures of Dunk and Egg are my favorite ASOIAF books. When I first bought them I knocked them all out in a weekend since the 3 stories are only around 330 pages in total. I know GRRM supposedly likes writing them the most currently (even though he just vowed to finish the winds of winter next)

What I like about the KOTSK is that I think it does a good job at adding on stories that aren’t in the novella. However, there were a few conversations dropped which I think would’ve been nice to see in the show.

I thought they should’ve sent more time before the trail of seven of talking about strategy. The only reason I say that is because in the following novellas they reference the tactics dunk uses in the fight. Especially in the third book of “mystery knight”

I also thought they left out the conversation with Steele pate about the weakness of visors which plays a role in the fight and is referenced in the second novella “sworn sword”

I also wish the show was a wee bit closer to the fight described in the fight. In the book dunk is described as completely man handling Aerion once they fight like hogs in the mud with even dunk lifting him in the air similar to the mountain in GOT. I felt like the fight didn’t show how while dunk is not the best at traditional knight combat at 16 but was still a freak of nature in brute strength.

Those are super minor gripes which probably make no difference.

Overall probably my favorite asoiaf media now because it was way closer to the book than the GoT series which pretty much is a different story compared to a song of ice and fire due to limitations.
