*** Official #2 Houston vs #6 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Uh oh, fade ISU. I'm starting to get good feelings about the game tonight. Last time this happened Tang kicked our teeth in at Hilton.

I can't get to the game until after tipoff tonight, so no tailgate . . . unless someone else wants to host it.

P.S. I might bring a cooler or two of beverages to enjoy after the game in C-3.
Dang it Cycsk, work long today and play tomorrow? :)
I chauffer my folks to the game I'm thinking they'd be none to happy with me post game tailgating for a bit at 1030 at night . LOL.

LOL Texas Tech beats the piss out of Colorado and wins at #1 Arizona and moves up three.

Purdue wins at Nebraska and Iowa and moves up 6 spots to #7?

Make it make sense.

Some thoughts/info on tonight:

Houston is pretty clearly the best team we’ve played all season, so tonight is going to be a real challenge. Not having to travel on short rest is a small but real advantage for us, even if both teams are dealing with the turnaround.

Listened to a few Kelvin Sampson interviews and he spoke highly about how much his team has grown, especially the way talented freshmen like Flemings and Cenac have blended with veteran leaders Uzan, Tugler, and Sharpe to form a very coachable group. He mentioned being curious to see how Flemings handles ball pressure and traps in Hilton, and was candid about Cenac not being a great on-ball defender, noting they’ve had to scheme around it all season. Also expressed a ton of respect for TJ/Hilton/our guys etc. (He also pointed out that he thinks JT Toppin is the best player in the country which I thought was interesting from a league perspective.)

From an analytics standpoint, Houston being No. 1 nationally in offensive turnover rate really stood out. They rarely give the ball away, and when you pair that with their elite defensive pressure, it’s easy to see why they’re one of the best teams in the country. They play slow, value possessions, and make you earn everything. High level hoops tonight in Hilton. Let's Go!

We don't have today's AP Poll yet, but just trying to think where this game fits in historically.

In recent (past 30 years) I found 6 examples of top 10 matchups in Hilton. I really doubt there were many before that considering ISU's history.

#7 ISU beat #6 KU in 2001
#9 ISU beat #7 Baylor in 2014
#8 ISU lost to #1 Baylor in 2022
#6 ISU beat #5 Marquette in 2024
#2 ISU beat #9 KU in 2025
#6 ISU beat #9 KU in 2026

ISU is 5-1 in these games. 4/6 have been under TJ.

Could one argue tonight is the biggest game in Hilton history?
Officially #6 hosting #2 tonight. If you just go by adding their rankings, this is the highest-ranked matchup yet

This will be the the tougher of the 2 games.
Line is just 2.5.

That said they played at Tech and lost, won at BYU who is a good not a great team. Does not play D

Probably will be Houston's toughest road game or maybe 2nd with Tech up to now.

Houston had to travel.

Rock fight most likely.

Flemings is best freshman in the league.
Houston does not turn it over, ISU has to create an exception game in that regard in order to win

Houston #2 & Iowa State #6

More distance between Purdue at #7 and ISU at #6 than there is between ISU at #6 and the #2 spot.

Log jam at the top, if you are comparing total points.
