Tang gonna Tang

Love what happened to his program after "cameragate". Part of me thinks it sucks that K-State might actually get someone who can build a program this time... but that ridiculous contract and firing Tang might mean to find that coach they might have to literally find the next great coach for that to happen... and even then they might not be able to afford to keep him if they don't find the $$$ to pay this buyout without crippling the AD budget (so sad).

I wonder if it’s possible they could “reassign” him to some bs “admin” position within the athletic department to at least make him have to show up for work for a while to at least to lower that buyout?

KSU is bluffing unless there is something outrageous that we are not aware of. Otherwise it’s just a play to get him to negotiate the buy out down some since KSU effed up and will bankrupt their department with the current buyout as is.
Agree. The University is desperately reaching with their claim that Tang's comments following the Cincinnati game are sufficient cause.

I doubt the University really expects this work. I think they're just hoping it will be sufficient enough to get Tang to negotiate to a buyout that's significantly less than $18 million. Also, Tang's contract says the $18 million buyout must be paid over two years, a time period I'm sure the University is hoping to extend.

Time for both sides to lawyer up.

They will either take a chance on an alum or hire someone like the Miami,OH coach. Odds will be good they botch it again.

This is the funniest for cause reason I have ever seen

That's funny because Tang brought "public disrepute, embarrassment, and ridicule" to his university over a year ago when he falsely accused Iowa State University of cheating. Obviously, this excuse is a desperate attempt to get out of paying Tang the $18 million Kansas State University is legally obligated to pay him.

If they really want to go back and use that wording could "Spygate" not be an example of publicly embarrassing your university?

everyone else saw it as weird they were just still in the honeymoon phase with him at that point

He gave them an opening. I don't really think it holds up in court either for cause, but he was going to be gone either way I think and his recent comments gave them a chance to squeeze him to negotiate. They just don't know how much getting him out of town will cost yet
