*** Official #5 IOWA STATE vs TCU Game(Day) Thread ***

My biggest concern (and it was a first half problem that carried over to the second) is that when your big man (JJ) has more turn-overs than your point guard (Lipsey) has assists; maybe stop feeding him the ball or letting him play hero-ball. A change was needed at half-time that wasn't made.

They came out of half with generally better ball movement and spacing to get up 5.

Couldn't get some shots to fall until later, but then just had the wheels fall off for everyone.

I think there are a lot of people that won't be able to survive the stretch of tough games coming up, but maybe that's for the best.
Thanks for descending from on high and professing to the cretins. Thank you for bestowing upon us your righteous presence.

Headed to be bed supremely irritated last night. Today, the only word I can use to describe the Cyclone "effort" last night: Sleepwalking. Kansas, Houston in a 3 day stretch is going to be a funeral pyre. Run the ******* offense, ball movement. And for the love of all that is Holy, tell Justin Jefferson the point forward experiment is over.

Just a horrible, horrible loss, the worst I have seen this year. This is not like the KU game where they were on fire, TCU was horrible much of the game, and ISU was worse. No movement on offense, to much one on one type of play. 2nd worst turnover number of the season, and just a complete lack of effort. This team gave up a 10/12 point run at the end, plus two other runs by TCU of over 10 points. You just cannot allow teams to go on a run like that over and over.
The effort of the team all night was shown in the last turnover, TCU just hit their first 3 pointer of the 2nd half, we are down one, and we get a pass picked off right out in front for an easy breakaway lay-up. Not a sharp pass, but another lazy pass like we are just going through the motions.
This team has too much senior leadership and talent to play like we did last night, and games like last night are why this team will struggle when everything is on the line.

My son sat by a scout last game. They were definitely looking at Toure. Great athlete and defender. Still some work to do on offense.
Seems like Toure will definitely get a decent offer from ISU, next year. I think it would be most beneficial to him if he plays one more year with us.

the first game of the year, not even comparable. By February, there was no way that team would lose a game like this.
Got it. Let's play your game then. That same season we lost on the road to Colorado late in the season. Colorado missed the NCAA tourney and was under .500 in the league.

Now you go.

I'm kinda tired of the Heise hype. He is OK but doesn't create shots off the dribble and rarely makes wide open 3 set shots. I expect more from a player who has a wealth of experience. Also, it seems like he is always around the action when turnovers take place.

That CU loss was on February 19th but that team would totally not lose a game in February.

They ended with 18 wins, this TCU team has 15 and could easily get to 18-19 with their remaining scheduld but let's just call them horrible because of losses last week.

It’s really hard to win when you get so little offense out of two guards playing huge minutes like Toure and Heise. It’s one thing if you have a great defensive and rebounding 5 that doesn’t do much on offense.

Wings/ combos have to be offensive players. Not saying they both need to be double digit scorers, but things are much more difficult for everyone else offensively. At least with Batemon teams have to close out and create some space in the lane where Jefferson can work, Tamin can attack, and that frees up looks for Milan.

I am still holding out hope Heise can shoot like he did down the stretch last year, but every time it looks like that’s going to happen he has a cold game.
And you like at an elite team like Houston....Uzan, Sharp, and Flemmings all can create their own shot and are super athletic

Did last night suck? Absolutely. But I called both Cincy and TCU losses. People can scream 'THEY'RE HORRIBLE' until the cows come home. They both have played really good teams close and if we aren't hitting, we lose to teams like that. It's pretty simple. They aren't BAD.

TCU beat Florida, beat Wisconsin, should have won in Phog, lost to Michigan by 4. Yes they got drilled by Colorado and barely beat KSU. But their backs were against the wall and needed a huge resume win. To me, when you add in their defense, it was a recipe for a loss.
