***2026 Winter Olympics (Milano Cortina) Thread***

Haha... only at inconsistent beliefs.. that's all.

I sure wish Spencer Lee had stepped aside and though and let someone else go instead... so selfish. (and yes, I know he couldn't have done that, I'm just making a point).
I don't know anything about wrestling or Spencer Lee, but if he didn't walk on the mat and immediately have his leg explode then he at least performed better than Vonn did.

Team ice skating complete and US gets the gold.

Crazy drama at the end with the US and Japanese men's individual performances. Glad the judges rewarded level of difficulty for Ilia.

Selfish how? SL proved he was better than the rest of country even with two torn ACLs. Lol.
Okay.... so if he was out there with two torn ACL's... and slipped a little in the first period and got stuck? Would you have said afterwards.... "he should've never been out there with those knees!".... when his loss had nothing to do with his bad knees at all.

Or what about CJ Beathard? Should he have played injured? And the list goes on and on.

But Vonn... even though she was one of the best in the world in this event going into this Olympics... she should have sat it out. I'm sure that's what Spencer Lee would have told her to do!!

It's weird that my opinion on this matters to you so much.

It's the benefit of hindsight, but if you go out and crash in 13 seconds is a bit different than if you go out and win. That's like the whole risk of competing when you're injured, if you win you look like a ******* baller, if you fail you look kind of silly.

Sorry to pick on you.... it's all the Vonn naysayers... not just you! Hope you've thought more about it though... and decided you were wrong on this. ;)

I think some people believe she was a washed up 41 year old.... and yes... that might have been a totally different story. But as of late this season she was as good as anyone in the world, if not better, and even had one of the best training runs of anyone with her knee. Granted it was training though.

I admire her guts and her success and ability... that's all.

What a dumb take.

Sorry... I shouldn't say "dumb"... because you just don't understand the situation... my apology. "Uninformed" would have been a better choice of words.

As a skier, I have to say there are some really dumb hot takes here.
Care to elaborate? I've been a skier my whole life too. Many trips out to Colorado every year growing up.

But I feel this issue really crosses all competitors in any sport. Especially ones at the top of their game... they are built to gut it out... and I've always admired that.

I wasn’t referring to your comments. I completely agree with you. The downhill is about being aggressive and fearlessness. Her crashing had nothing to do with her knee or age. Was catching the gate a mistake, sure but her entire career she’s won because of her aggressiveness and ability. The line she took was a little too close, but Breezy had an unbelievable run, and Vonn wasn’t trying to just finish, she was going for gold.

Vonn had the right to choose to go. I just don't agree with her choice to go, a bit selfish IMO.

the u.s. snowboarder with the broken arm should have shut it down to right? there had to have been at least 1 uninjured american who could have medaled i his place.

Turns out winning solves everything, also depends on what kind of metal.
