Just work hard and avoid turning into 2 in a row.

I’m not sure what I said that was out of line or off base.
We started slow against Iowa. Trailed by 13 with 3 minutes left in the first half.
We started slow against West Virginia. Played to their level for 12 minutes before we woke up.
We started slow against Baylor. Didn’t lead until the last shot of the first half.
We started slow against Okie State. Down 9 halfway through the first half.
We started slow tonight. Had more turnovers than made baskets in the first half and gave up easy looks on the other end.
We’ve done well to dig ourselves out of those situations, but just dug too deep a hole at the wrong place tonight.
This is sarcasm, right?I think we can put the "National Title Contender" thing to rest after this game. Iowa State has looked mediocre on offense the last 8 games. Defense is also getting carved up. Iowa State is turning the ball over more and more as teams figure out how to play against Iowa State's offense. Jefferson is now forcing things. Toure is now forcing things. Heise hasn't been able to hit a shot consistently. I still think Iowa State finishes in the top 4 teams of the league...just not the champ. This team has always felt like a 5 seed that can play like a 2 seed, but only for 1 half. Final 4 is a pipe dream in my opinion. Let's just get to the 2nd weekend without going full Iowa State (where we embarrass our ourselves on national tv for all to see). The brighter the lights get, the more likely Iowa State is to go full nuclear choke (across all sports ironically). It's the Iowa State way.
Reminds me of some of Fred’s better teams. Didn’t seem to start playing until they were down 10. Dangerous way to live.I’m not sure what I said that was out of line or off base.

At least with the slow starts in the first 3 conference games, I never was worried or felt my blood pressure rise. Really not even against Iowa, even though that was extremely annoying. But eventually we ran into an opponent capable of burying us if we weren't going to come out ready, and that's what happened tonight.I’m not sure what I said that was out of line or off base.

Maybe listen to the post game radio show and listen to what Heise had to say about that.
To paraphrase "teams have been throwing weird stuff at them on offense to start games that those teams haven't shown on tape before".
So it takes a bit to adjust to that.
Tougher said than done, playing at Cincy where their coach needs a statement win to keep his job.Just work hard and avoid turning into 2 in a row.

Ok. I’ll do that. Doesn’t change the facts. Except against the two slap dicks, we have started slow every game since waxing Purdue.Maybe listen to the post game radio show and listen to what Heise had to say about that.

I don't mind the loss, hell I was not feeling a win tonight even before it started but I didn't see it playing out quite like it did. A 6-12 point loss i would be handling better. I'd be curious to learn the last time a team that ended up a 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament took a 20+ loss to an unranked team during their season.
We also have to remember when you get that top 10 ranking you start taking every teams best shot. Teams are looking for marquee wins and that's beating us.

The turnovers we committed in the first half tonight…name more than one that was forced.
Since the Purdue game, Iowa State has the 63rd best offense in the country. Turnovers have been a major problem since B12 play. Iowa State also isn't forcing them now either. Something has to give and the elite teams in the B12 will take advantage of that (Houston, BYU, Arizona). This is sarcasm, right?
To be fair we did a great job getting them in rhythm.Kansas would've beat almost anyone the way they shot it tonight. Maybe this team needed a good wakeup call. Can't keep getting off to such slow starts.
Well, dang. I wondered about that. What about #2 and #3 seeds? For a road loss specifically? Alabama, 2023. In the last 10 years:
Kansas (2023 #1 seed)
Home: TCU 83–60 Kansas (23) — Jan 21, 2023
Neutral: Texas 76–56 Kansas (20) — Mar 11, 2023
Alabama (2023 #1 seed)
Road: Oklahoma 93–69 Alabama (24) — Jan 28, 2023
Baylor (2022 #1 seed)
Road: Kansas 83–59 Baylor (24) — Feb 5, 2022
Michigan (2021 #1 seed)
Home: Illinois 76–53 Michigan (23) — Mar 2, 2021 (played in Ann Arbor)
North Carolina (2019 #1 seed)
Home: Louisville 83–62 North Carolina (21) — Jan 12, 2019
The farthest any of them made it was a loss in the elite 8. No final 4 appearances by these teams.
