At some point, we have to be able to beat a team under adverse conditions, and when things (like officiating, crowd, etc) are not going our way.
Maybe tonight won't be pretty, but I think this is an important step in our growth as a team.

I lean towards a Kansas win...but their defensive Turnover % (awful) and lack of offensive rebounding gives me pause. Thanks for sharing this
This is my hope too. The teams that give us trouble tend to kill us on the offensive glass. KU is pretty weak there. If they want to try to play like that this game, they hopefully won't be very good at it and we'll take advantage (transition offense, a strength of ours!).

Tonight is certain to not be pretty. Just hoping they can come out with a win. Seen too many road games over the years to know better, especially in Lawrence. I do think tonight will tell us a lot about this team. Over the past month, they have just looked a bit off. Not sure if they are just stooping down to their competition, but still getting W's, or if the competition has just not been good enough to beat a really good team. We are certainly a really good team, but getting a win in Lawrence could move the needle towards that 2000 team level.

A theory (not mine, someone else posted it earlier, but I agree with it!): the slow starts may be a consequence of Otz's whole "how you do anything is how you do everything" deal. I'm sure we make some adjustments for each opponent, but we don't do some categorically different approach for particular opponents or try to come out with some unexpected strategy and catch them off-guard or whatever. Like BYU, yes they're a bad matchup for us but we run the same D against them that we run against everyone else.

This consistency makes us easy to scout, so teams with good coaches and good players (we don't play a lot of teams like that in non-con) come out with a good plan for beating us and have some early success at that in the game. But our players are really good and our scheme is really good and playing with the level of energy and execution it takes to beat us all game long is really hard, they wear out, and our greater talent wins out in the end.

Makes sense to me!

There haven't been many years in my fandom where I think we have a decisively more talented roster than KU but this year is one of them for sure. They have the single most talented player for sure but he's a teenager who seemingly can't/won't play a full game and looks like he'd struggle to squat 185, our grown men plus man-child Toure on the perimeter will have something for him!

Hasn't that been done this year? At Mackey, weird game vs. Iowa, Baylor refs and cold shooting, even this past Saturday with officials?

Tamin getting hurt in Vegas and sitting out the next two games?
It's a weird comment. This team has won under adverse conditions and just about every way imaginable.

Yeah things have not been all sunshine and rainbows all year and we have not played great every single game despite our undefeated record and #2 ranking.

I posted this in the Kansas Must Be Destroyed thread :

7 times we've brought a ranked team into Phog Allen in the Bill Self era and we are 0-7

- Last year was the first time we were ranked higher and the first time Kansas was NOT a Top 10 team
- This is the first year we are a Top 10 team and the first time KU is not ranked
- A TJ coached team has not scored more than 61 points in Phog Allen

2026 #2 ISU @ KU (???)
2025 #8 ISU @ #16 KU (52-69)
2023 #14 ISU @ #2 KU (60-62)
2022 #15 ISU @ #9 KU (61-62)
2019 #24 ISU @ #9 KU (76-80)
2016 #21 ISU @ #1 KU (78-85)
2015 #11 ISU @ #8 KU (76-89)
2014 #16 ISU @ #6 KU (81-92)

My prediction: Toure/Heise makes life really tough on Peterson and the rest of the team is still out of sync. Milan stays hot and JJ takes over late. ISU 81-68
Time to break the run. Let's GO!!!
