So we can't question Pollard on here anymore?

It’s incredibly sad and childish that you are insinuating that I condone what happened there by cheering for MC and the players who used to play here. I have no question that you are better than that.

Meh. If I found out that ISU covered up and failed to stop/punish child sexual abuse in its athletic programs, I would wish the death penalty on those programs and avoid any association going forward. That seems like the most rational and ethical take, actually.

I'm not arguing it's a bad rational. I get why some would. But to insinuate that those who disagree with that stance condone the acts is incredibly stupid.

That’s the rub. If you recall, their fans quickly became more concerned with JoePa’s wins than they were with accountability for what transpired.
If SMU got two seasons cancelled for paying players, PSU should’ve gotten similar and maybe they’d have gained some perspective.

And yes, I’m well aware if that happened at ISU we’d have our share of fans deflecting blame and in denial. I’d probably just disengage and watch pro sports full time tbh.

The front half and the back half of your sentence seem to conflict. Do you typically advocate the firing of people who are doing a good job?
Jamie Pollard needs to go. He isn't managing the Athletic Department with any sense for this era. The lack of basic contracts and other instruments to mitigate the risks we faced with losing all of our players, the negligence in not updating Campbell's contract, and the joke of a hiring process for the replacement all indicate to me that he has done all he can do in his position and that its time to move on. People who were good at their job always come to the point that its time to move on.

We agree. Those people deserve every ounce of hate a criticism they receive. I just don't think you need to cheer against PSU for the rest of your life because people who used to be employed there are horrible humans.
I think you need to read the court transcripts and read one of the follow-up books. To this day, Penn State officially and unofficially spins this story and does not accept much responsibility for a horrific 20 year saga. The crimes were in plain sight, in a town the size of Ames. The cover-up was as bad as the crimes. Joe Paterno is no doubt a coaching icon, but he looked the other way, and did not respond to complaints made to him for many years. The administration acted similarly.

Plausible deniability has been the PSU spin for 25 years. I can never cheer for PSU. This is one of the worst miscarriages of justice I have ever seen.

Just to focus in on one part of your comment... When you say "basic contracts" in the bolded sentence, do you mean contracts with players? Because I'm pretty confident that any kind of contract that an athletic department tried to enforce with a player to keep them at a university would be shot down immediately by a court. There are a lot of reasons why thousands of FBS players will be in the transfer portal this year, and none of them are that no one thought of "make them sign contracts."

Yep. As long as the NCAA holds on to academic/amateur status for players, the schools will have no authority to contract with players for playing. Rev share is the result of a court settlement, NIL needs to be funded outside of the department.

Contracts are also a two-way street. If you are the only school out of 100+ trying to put these provisions in your contracts, players will rightfully tell you to pound sand.

Agree. Even if they were able to be legally enforced, it doesn't mean it's the right approach.

Don't know what reality you are in but its not the current one. Update Campbell's contract? You mean update it from August 2025? Maybe kidnap his kids and force him to sign to our exact terms so he never leaves? Force kids to contacts when no one else does?

Again, please provide one example of how we are staying on par with our peer institutions.

CYTOWN!!! I think you've seen information on that. It's Iowa States way of creating a new revenue source. It's not a quick hit.

If anything JP should be commended that the ISU AD has reserves to pay for the House Settlement!

But I'm sure you would be up in arms if JP put out an email saying: ticket prices were going up 50percent, Cyclone Club Donation levels were going up, Concessions up 20 percent or student fees were going up $200/semester.

But is it even possible for ISU to be on par with Iowa? Has it been possible the last decade from a budget standpoint? In 2026 the answer is NO.

Iowa is part of the Big10 and it's TV money is more than double Iowa State. Look at AD revenues for FY 2024 and I'm sure it's only worse because the Big10's new TV deal.
Even based on that gap, Iowa State athletic teams have held their own against the Hawks.

And Iowa can look to be doing a lot of proactive things, but are they really making a difference? Or are they just utilizing the financial windfall they already have? It's easy to move I-Club dollars from operations to House/NIL when your school is in the Big10 or SEC.

Victim #1 wrote a book about the horrors he and his family suffered for coming forward. The victims really wind up with a life sentence. He had suicidal thoughts after coming forward and whatever he tried to use in his closet wasn’t high enough. Different perpetrators, but Virginia Guiffre’s suicide was years later. Revolting how PSU treated these children.

Sometimes you hire a person who's a great coach and it just doesn't work. That doesn't mean it was a bad hire. Not all bad results are due to bad decisions, just like not all good results are due to good decisions.
Completely agree. You can’t entirely judge a decision based on the outcome because you negate so many things out of your control like luck. All you really can do is evaluate the process you used to make the decision. Sometimes you make the right call and it doesn’t work out. I can stop at a red light and get rear-ended. Does that mean I made a bad decision?

Man, we need a reset. Acting as if cheering for Campbell or the players that left in anyway supports what happened there 16-20 years ago is something. No one supports that. You’re better than that!

This whole thing makes us (some of us anyway) look bitter and jaded. Some growing up needs to happen.
How about Campbell talking about how awesome a guy Paterno was?

Meh PSU got a giant pass on the Sandusky incident because of Joe Pa and FB. It is good to keep a healthy disdain for them. They currently have one of their grads being a rising star on ESPN (Katie Feeney) lots of positive press for PSU and she seems like a nice kid, but my 1st thought was why did a nice person like that go to PSU.
But if something similar would happen at ISU I would still want my relatives to go to the institution and want the program that was child rapers burnt to the ground. If ISU FB had done that, I would have been good with it being totally dissolved for 1 yr then start over with a clean slate after that. Nothing even similar to that happened to PSU.

First, not a JP apologist but I think there is a method to the madness. We’ve got the $21-22 million covered for the next year or so. Then, seemingly all bets are off. I think JP putting any incoming NIL $$ into the House Settlement kitty helps insure the long term viability of ALL sports.

The rub comes from any NIL. Football and basketball want that all for the players to be competitive. We just can’t afford to do that. And I understand where the coaches are coming from too. They need those sport specific funds to remain competitive. End of day, we need a sugar daddy to step up big time.

Just stopping in to see if we are still asking questions on the post asking why we can't aske questions anymore.

After 26 pages, I think the overwhelming consensus is we can question Pollard. But those questions must be in Pig Latin and include at least one CJR Eff-bomb.

This is an allowable question:

amiejay ouyay eednay otay irefay immyjay ogersray ecausebay ehay aidsay eatbay ethay uckingfay awkshay inyay ontfray ofyay ymay ifeway

For those that don't understand pig latin:

Jamie you need to fire Jimmy Rogers because he said Beat the ******* Hawks in front of my wife.
