Tamin Lipsey Commits

One would hope the alleged second-best point guard in the country could lead their team to victory over a Minnesota team barely in the top-100 of kenpom.

I'm tired of hearing about how great Stirtz is. Looter in a riot.

Just looked it up and looks like Lipsey is leading the country in Assistant-to-Turnover ratio by a decent margin. 7.22 is also on pace to beat Monte’s record I believe. I know competition will get harder but it seems he has really benefited from matching up with Toure in practice as his turnovers per game are about half of what they were last year (his assists are also up).

I know I’m also biased but there’s no point guard in the country I’d trade him for.

Looks like Monte's record is a 5.17 A/TO ratio. Currently 4 guys ahead of that pace, but yeah Lipsey is head and shoulders above right now. Kinda funny to me that Sam Hoiberg is in second.

Agree. Those two were also first and second a week or so ago and Walters or Heft mentioned something on the radio. “Something about growing up in Ames” I think was the line.

I've been keeping an eye on the MBB All-Time Wins record for Lipsey too. I think he's missed four wins in his career (@ TCU a couple years ago and then 3 this year). The current leaders:
1. Monte, 100
T2. Georges/Naz/Matt, 98
5. Ejim, 88
T6. Holloway & Lipsey, 83

ISU has 18 guaranteed games left (17 + Big 12 tourney). Stay healthy and Lipsey is nearly a lock to be the 5th player ever to win 90+ games.

*edited to add: 83 is Lipsey's number following the win on 1/2/26

He did miss 3 games/wins this year (2 @ Players Era Tournament and vs Alcorn St). Curious if that's included in those total wins?

We've had 87 wins as a team since Lipsey joined the team, so looks like the 83 is including only games he played in, which I would say is the correct way to do this record.

The video from Tamin playing as a kid is unbelievable. I think some parents would be helped by watching it to realize their kid isn’t going to be playing college ball someday.
