***Official portal tracker thread***

Why would any player who is entering the portal practice with a team they are leaving? Why would coaches want to have players they know are leaving practice with the team?
Because they and their agents can't be talking to other schools until April 10. Players may think about entering the portal, but not 100%.

In pro-leagues agents and players can't talk to other teams before free-agency starts. Otherwise tampering penalties occur. The NCAA needs to have teeth.

Or maybe spring ball is an antiquated concept. We've seen a number of schools drop spring games. Instead, have a spring portal and go to a pro-style OTA format over the summer.

Really don’t need Hawthorne, Manske or any other of our young studs with 2 or more years left to end up in suckeyeville .
But…. pretty sure the lying, cheating , stealing, racist, arrogant, tyrant kkkirk has been tampering with our players.
Tom Kahert basically said as much on kxno show Mon afternoon, said “ you have to contact those potential portal kids early” .

That being said if Rogers isn’t doing the same thing then I don’t want him as coach

The idea that it's college football normal to effectively fire a coach, hire a new one, hire a full complement of assistants, process game film on the entire returning roster, meet with all the players, offer detailed rev share agreements to those you intend to have return, lock down a high school recruiting class, and assess potential options for free agent replacements in the three weeks from December 8 until January 2 might be the dumbest thing about the game. Even if you didn't care about what this system does to bowl games, which I do.

I'd like February 1 to be coach official moving day and March 1 to be portal opening for players moving for the start of summer. All players and coaches would be required to remain where they are until then. It lets the season get fully completed, lets coaching searches happen out in the open and be announced without throwing everything out of whack, then permits new staff to have time to evaluate and meet with a multi million dollar roster before it evaporates within a week of coming to campus. A later, longer transfer portal genuinely provides players a greater opportunity to find a good fit.
Good luck with that. How do you propose to accomplish this?

My point is less about the specific action, and more about coming off petty and punitive. Not a look that any school wants, let alone one in Iowa State's position.
But even if pulling a scholarship IS irrelevant, then it's nothing but theater, anyway, and can only serve to make you look bad. There's no scenario where it makes your school MORE appealing to other recruits.

They are no longer members of the Iowa State Cyclones. Our facilities are for Iowa State football players. IMO they should not be open to the general public. Portal transfers give up their right to use our facilities.

Rocco to PSU confirmed
I told Pedo St fans two weeks ago that Grunkmeyer would be playing and they laughed at me. They aren’t laughing today. Matt will play the guys he’s bringing with him. This QB was good, high recruit, and played very well after Allar went down mid-year. Gave up three years of him for one year of Rocco and whatever Manske brings.

Move the portal back a couple months would accomplish most of it. A rule would have to be put into place with penalties by the NCAA or conferences to prohibit coaching moves until Feb. 1. I agree that is a more difficult part. But I do think the urge to jump out early on firing and hiring would be largely reduced if the player part of things wasn't right upon them at the same time. At least every coach that was hired away would still be there with their staff to complete a season in a bowl game.

People need to look at this like pro-league free agency. Big names, getting big money will sign early. Players focused on 1 school will sign early.

But after that it will be a process. There could be good value week 3, week 4 of the portal.
Yes. Now you’re thinking like the Chicago Cubs do.

I can wait... but i can't wait to see what the fat former PSU o lineman says on his YouTube podcast. He's so annoying. I watched one and it messed up my algo.

That's certainly a position you can take.
