***Official portal tracker thread***

This is well said. It captures my view of things, as well. I've had to change my perception of the CF reporting because of all of this. It's not journalism in the way I think of it. I also can't handle listening to people get choked up over collegiate athletes transferring or coaches taking new jobs.
I’m fine with reporting and I’m fine with th raw emotion of a fan. What has me contemplating just checking out from this whole IE/CF mediasphere is that both sides of the coin are clearly compromised at this point and - even more so - the level of condescension and hypocrisy.

Why should they have any loyalty if tons of fans hate them for leaving. It's a really bad look for the fan base. I'm not saying fans need to cheer for them, but bad mouthing them on the way out is a really bad look.

If any recruits or families read this board, why would they want to come to Iowa State. Sure the fans are passionate but as soon as you do something else, we'll spit all over them on their way out.

It's hopefully just message board minority, but unfortunately the message board minority is what everyone can see. It's pathetic.
You think this is unique at ISU? You dont think there are fanbases say at Pedo St or Nebby that would vocally turn on players far worse than at ISU?

I dont think going on these guys pages and badmouthing them is right, but that is a small minority that is doing so and there are as many or more of that minority in any fanbase.

That being said crying on twitter because fans of a school you choose to leave dont fall all over you and praise and hope all the best for you as you slam the door is pathetic.

Just as pathetic as these sappy long god forward prayer full letters on twitter, when they leave.

Seriously, one line, would be just fine. Thanks ISU, I have decided to move on, period. The fake sappy BS about prayer, god and family is getting tired.

You are a former player. If you saw fans treating your friends and teammates like crap, you wouldn't think about finding another place to go?

Are these friends/teammates ditching my team/school? Then no, I'd agree with the fans.

I said before that if Mac would have bailed like Campbell, I would have been pissed at Mac for bailing. No way in hell I would have followed him to his new school.

Already checked out on IE as I absolutely hate it.

Fans can keep cheering for their team without shitting all over the players leaving. Saying all they want is money. Saying how they are all stupid and will be poor in 5 years. Saying they suck and aren't big time power players

THere is a difference between ignoring the leaving players and treating them like ****. No coach or player leaving have public ally bad mouthed Iowa State on there way out. TONS of fans have.
No one should be saying anything truly vile to the players. And as Clonefan32 points out, there’s going to be players who were asked to leave, and we shouldn’t trash them. And it’s difficult to know who they are (or they may come back), so maybe it’s best to hold off a bit.

But if you’re choosing to leave for greener pastures, it’s fair for fans to criticize you and your loyalty. Because you aren’t really being loyal to the school and we’d criticize players on other teams, so you’re fair game now

Iowa fans were booing Gronowski off the field earlier in the year at Kinnick.

There might be some bad ISU fans obviously... but if guys like Jeremiah Cooper think it's bad here... they are in for a real treat at some other places. Down south in the SEC they will send death threats to you and your family if you have a bad game. Good luck to him.

I hope it changes direction soon. Two Guys is my "brainless" podcast 2x per week. I can listen while I'm driving and check/in out without using too many brain cells. It's informative and I personally think Hassel is a pretty funny person. I relate much more to his approach to humor than Williams, aside from the whole "hawkeye thing." But if this kind of stuff is going to be how it is, then I'll just find something else to fill my drive home.

Sure, no problem criticizing their loyalty at all. And nobody needs to wish them the best. But reading this thread, last years roster had about 15 good players and the rest of the team defense wasn't worthy of Power 4 football. And we had ****** coach.

For all of those saying we should not like Rogers either because he did the same thing to WSU as Matt did to us... the big difference is that Rogers is a Cyclone right now, and Matt isn't.

In this day and age, all you can do is support the coaches and players that are currently a part of "your team". During the season next year, I won't have any illusions while cheering for the ISU players and coaches that any of them will be back the next year.... but I will support them as long as they are here.

So right now I support Rogers 100%... until he chooses to not be a Cyclone anymore. And I really don't care about anyone who is no longer here. Why should I care if Matt does well?
