***Official portal tracker thread***

I had this sort of same thought when I read a post from CW in a different thread about a guy who was going to transfer, but CW said something along the lines that he deleted his post out of the wishes of the player, or something to that affect.

If you're going to withhold media coverage especially from paying subscribers because your personal emotions getting in the way then what are we doing here? Personal feelings shouldn't dictate what information is/isn't being reported.
Did the player end up transferring or was he just thinking about it? I understand not posting about it if they are just thinking about it, but if they’ve made the decision, then it’s fair to go ahead and post imo

Also, I think the real question is more how you feel about Washington State fans being upset that Rogers left. I completely get it and don’t hold it against them, so I think it’s fair to be upset at Campbell
Washington St fans don't seem that upset over losing CJR. I do sense a lot of apathy on their message boards. Which I get it.

I'm not sure it was public news from the player, yet. But I don't see any difference in posting a players name who is going to transfer than a player who is going to commit - and hasn't publicy said so, yet.

I understand things get leaked online these days and that's something to consider, I guess.

IMO Matt has decided to completely gut Iowa State. He really doesn’t care if all the players on Iowa State roster leave. Mouser did not get the HC job. If the program goes back to square one then it just shows everyone how great Campbell is. He could care less if Rogers and Iowa State have success. Campbell won’t have Jon Heacock as his DC at Penn State. His right hand for 12 years. Now he will have to rely on OC Mouser. Good luck Matt.
Do you realize that your first two sentences can't both be true?

Friend of mines brother went to Pedo State his roommate was the kicker. 100$ handshakes when he made the kicks death threats when he missed. None of the ISU guys know what they are in for if things go badly in happy valley. It ain't gonna be happy.

I get if you weren’t friends to begin with, but you said still be friends which I took to meant friends but then not friends after you left.
How about this sitution.

You have a business or are a salesman.

Your coworker decides to go out on their own or go to a different company in direct competition with you.

Do you hope they do great, and take all your clients and business to their new company? Do you hope they do way better than you at your business, and hope they take all your business away so you go broke?

No, at least I wouldnt.

Ive always gone to work to make a living, I dont go to make friends, and in the same time if those friends move on and turn their backs on me, while trying to steal my business I for sure dont cry and hope they succeed in that endeavor.

This gets back to how we view the CF content. If you think it’s journalism you’re rightfully going to be disappointed by this kind of stuff. It you take it as “voice of the fan” it’s easier - at least until you start seeing the spin job for JP, Campbell, and these departing players. At that point, they’re not effectively doing either.

I’m fine if these guys want to walk a tight rope. It’s convenient in ways and difficult in others. It’s ultimately a business decision that will help or hurt revenue.

We all follow and listen on our own. People may need to rethink how we view this content , but nothing changes until people stop following which the probably won’t in absence of any alternatives.

It’s not unlike the situation with college athletics in general.

Jeremiah Cooper clears up how the Campbell guys really feel about ISU fans..

Why should they have any loyalty if tons of fans hate them for leaving. It's a really bad look for the fan base. I'm not saying fans need to cheer for them, but bad mouthing them on the way out is a really bad look.

If any recruits or families read this board, why would they want to come to Iowa State. Sure the fans are passionate but as soon as you do something else, we'll spit all over them on their way out.

It's hopefully just message board minority, but unfortunately the message board minority is what everyone can see. It's pathetic.

Believe it or not, the vocal idiots on Twitter are relatively tame for ISU compared to the fans for other teams.

Exhibit 1:

Fans can keep cheering for their team without shitting all over the players leaving. Saying all they want is money. Saying how they are all stupid and will be poor in 5 years. Saying they suck and aren't big time power players

THere is a difference between ignoring the leaving players and treating them like ****. No coach or player leaving have public ally bad mouthed Iowa State on there way out. TONS of fans have.
Counterpoint:

"The players love us until someone offers them a million dollars to go elsewhere, then they don't care. I'll keep rooting for my team"

Fun how that works both ways.
