Thought it was worth looking at the past few decades of ISU football:

McCarney = brought out the defib paddles, beat Iowa often, birth of modern ISU football and bowl games.

Chizik = a fancy hire made possible by ISU's improved image, brought in some great recruits including, yes, Grant Mahoney.

Rhoads = first to show that top 25 upsets were possible and, maybe even ... expected?

Campbell = high floor coach, first to win 10+ games, first to appear in major bowl game, NFL players

Using this clear evidence, since progress is absolutely always a linear path with no deviations, it's pretty clear what's next:

THE Iowa State University led by Jimmy Rogers will win the Big 12 Championship and one of his position groups or player will win a major trophy. After all, he already won a national championship. The first one is always the hardest. Overcome with passion, the Big 10 will invite ISU over Notre Dame.

It's science.

Kagavi I love you but I didn’t take enough OG Kush/Blueberry Muffin tonight for that reach:)

Just kidding, glad to see hope. It’s been rough and will continue to be, but when the portal opens in a week we’ll start hearing a lot of incoming hope rather than outgoing pain. That’s needed.

I think he can get Iowa State over the hump and win the Big12 and make the playoffs. Obviously not year one though, going at least 6-6 year one wouldn’t surprise me me though. His defense has been great everywhere he’s been, and he brought those coaches here too. The offense is all new hires, and the staff looks very encouraging.

My comfort in this whole fiasco is I thought we were ****** when Fred left. But I wouldn’t trade TJ for anyone in the country. He is heads and shoulders above what Fred is. Also he has done it without the NBA guys so far. That is going to change.

I do not think we will win a Big 12 Championship. Before NIL, yes we had a chance, but in the current Big 12, I think you will see the schools with the most expensive rosters playing for the titles.

They had a chance but it didn't happen? The closest they got was '20 in a weird season.

They got to the CCG again in the NIL era.

I will wait to see what Tech does going forward. Is this a short term blip where their booster is spending money to get them a kick start, or is he going to buy rosters year after year.

And can you put that many BYU players in Crumbl commercials before it gets weird and people decide that $20 for a half dozen cookies is insane?

I agree with competing at a national level, but I don’t think a Big12 championship is out of reach. Not every year for sure, but one of those years where the roster comes together and we can make a run.

Until they fix it hopefully. Probably won't happen but that's what it sounds like the tech oil guy wants to do.

I've seen a fair amount of doom and gloom spread around threads recently, so it's refreshing to have an optimistic thread (albeit, maybe a bit tongue in cheek!). The landscape is a locomotive hurling down the tracks and the coach and AD need to work together to engineer and conduct the operation. I'm excited to see how ADJP and CJR will work together. Players leaving through the portal gives more opportunities for CJR to get players who buy into him and his system into the Iowa State family. Will it be Ohio State, Alabama caliber players? Obviously not. Recall a player named Joel Lanning who bought into MCs vision and showed leadership. I'm more excited to see what kind of phoenix emerges from the ashes, and not going to spend time clutching pearls. Remember, the history of ISU athetics has had coaches on both ends of the spectrum, and we have weathered both.

In the immortal words of Bartles and Jaymes, "thank you for your support..."

Actually both teams are currently undefeated.

Sincerity counts, for something. Ha.

I can see it now, in about 20 years, THE Iowa State!
