PETERSON COLUMN: Rocco Becht was as good for Iowa State football, as he was for the community

Well the original poster you replied to doesn't share the same sentiments I do.

I personally believe you need to finish your collegiate career at ISU and have great accomplishments at ISU in order to be considered a great Cyclone.

What's the criteria for finishing a career if they have a year left?

(I'm on board with players going and getting paid, I just think it's stupid to label thrm not great just because they left).

Can we quit gooning over Rocco? Great kid by all accounts. Wish him well. Fine.

But nothing screams little brother/loser mentality like penning love letters to someone who just left you along with his coach and his most talented teammates for greener pastures.

I've never given 2 ***** what this has-been, 2-bit, dinosaur hack of a writer has to say about Iowa State...he's always been an awful person towards Iowa State in his articles.
Back handed compliments all the damn time.

I’m watching Tech and Duke hoops right now.

Screw CFB. Screw the SEC and Big 10. Screw ESPN and Fox.

And **** Iowa too

I understand why players would transfer but sorry I'm still upset that after 10 years of building up this program that basically none of the staff and many of the players are going to be gone, as if the past 10 years leaded to nothing. I know we're not starting completely from scratch but I wish Campbell and Co had some sort of succession plan with Pollard in place so we're not starting from near zero again...
And yeah leaving with one year left doesn't exactly leave a good lasting taste in my mouth. I know it's dramatic but damn it sucks.

College athletics is broken.
They've made changes that benefit the coaches and players but they've forgotten about the fans.

Biggest thing I learned from that article that writing for the Register enabled Randy Pete to be able to afford to retire to Okoboji. I'm guessing most Iowa and ISU game days you can find him at Tweeters cheering Iowa and cutting down ISU.

Jesus. You’ve got to be kidding me.
I'm not, blanket statement like that deserves criticism. Tinsley did not start his college career at ISU, he spent his last 2 years here. Compare that to Rocco who spent 4 years here, actually graduated, 11 win season, etc...

Leaving for the NBA draft is not even close to the same as bailing for another school. This is an insane take.

There's a bunch of ISU greats that didn't do these things.

Let's start with Breece Hall. He didn't finish his college career at ISU since he left.
Leaving early for the pros is different for me than going to a different college team.

I mean look at Tyrese Haliburton. Look at how much he reps us, how much love for ISU he has, all the ISU drip he wears...

Now if Rocco is doing all that for ISU if let's say, he were to catch on in the pros like Niang, Haliburton, Purdy, Montgomery, Lazard, etc. then we can have a discussion.

I have a feeling though that if Rocco somehow was starting a SNF game at QB in the future...his intro is gonna be "Rocco Becht. Penn State."

I'm talking about "starting" not finishing, he absolutely finished his career a cyclone.

Just so we're all on the same page they're both Cyclone greats IMO, the post I called out disqualifies Tinsley because he didnt START his college career at ISU.

He also didn't leave early. He was a senior and out of eligibility.

I mean, it’s HIGHLY unlikely Rocco is a starter in the NFL if we’re being honest.

And then he’s gotta be a starter on a team that’s good enough to be on SNF too.

It will be interesting to see what he choses to have put in his bio, if he makes it to the next level. I've noticed some pros put their original HS in. Some their college.
I'm not as bitter as many on here, he came played got a degree, did a lot of nice things while here both community wide and on the field. Good luck in his next phase of life. Heck him and a couple of others even showed up at the WBB game against Iowa. I think he enjoyed his time here. Hopefully he remembers ISU fondly, and if he makes it big helps us back out.

If anyone thinks he’s going to say he’s an Iow State product after finishing elsewhere you’re crazy.

If you think this actually matters you’re even more crazy.

Bailing for another school is also very different than bailing for another school BECAUSE your coach bailed to another school

Players are loyal to coaches far more than the school. It seems some fans here think otherwise
