Cytown Update

If you were to win the $1.5b lottery next Monday and walked into Jamie Pollard's office on Tuesday telling him you were going to give $100m for a new press tower, I guarantee he would convince you to donate that in a different direction. Hilton concourse renovation? Maybe, but suite space is far down the list of priorities. I'm not sure if you've heard, but our athletic department is not in a position to drop 9 figures on aesthetics.

On top of that, Jack Trice has 45 private suites. In comparison, Kinnick currently 46 suites, Kansas will have a total of 42 after their renovation, Nebraska has 44, Kansas State has 40, and Minnesota has 39, so we are very much on par with our competition geographically as far as number of private suites go.
If I mathed it right 5% interest on 400 million is 20 million. Win the lottery offer the AD the 20 million a yr to fund the pay for play . I'm guessing you could sit any damn place you want in either Hilton or Trice. 8% return you'd still have a extra 12 million for your own money. Fun situation to think about.

Might as well move the Campanile on top of it and create a dining area there while we're at it.

We could call it Campa-Meal.
Great. Now we gotta debate whether or not they should serve alcohol in the Campa-Meal... and at what donor level?....and whether or it's technically in the stadium or not...?

Wait, I think I have a solution. What if we move the the Sukup EZ Club on top of CyTown on top of a new massive press box?

Everyone's happy. Problems solved forever!

Haven't read all the posts but I'm guessing most of the posters wanting a new press box also made sure they had chrome wheels and a tricked out stereo system on their high mileage Ford Fairlane used to getting to their entry level job while the wife contemplated moving back to her folk's basement with their two kids.

Where do the hot tubs go?

The alumni center is semi-public space. The foundation doesn't want to be bothered with that.

We need more public-facing opportunities for new, small donors to connect with the foundation. I think the Alumni Building should be used on basketball and football days, something like Johnny's to help nurture alumni to be donors.

More than 10 years ago, the property along University was called "beachfront property" that we are only using 6 or 7 days per year for parking. That is why the original drawings show what would become CyTown being planned for along University.

Nebraska's Alumni Center serves that purpose on gameday. Maybe an "Alumni Beer Garden" or something like that.

That'd be awesome, promote it to young cyclone alums. open it up a couple hours before the game. I guess that's what the CyTown restaurant thing will be. It's unfortunate that there will be one restaurant/brewpub thing and it will be all the way next to JTS, that will be less appealing on a frigid cold January night lol

There are going to be multiple food and beverage locations throughout CyTown. They have labeled one as a cornerstone location, but nearly all the storefronts can become restaurants.

Oh ok, that's good.

Also I forgot that the hotel will have a rooftop bar I think? Or at least a bar at the very least. That would be sweet on gamedays. If normal plebs are allowed up there.

That's false. There is room for other bars/restaurants in the other buildings. That southern building is just a building designed solely as a restaurant/brewpub.

Worth noting that the Alumni Center is already open on football game days. They've got popcorn inside, and sometimes there's free food on the lawn on the Beach side of the building (not sure who technically hosts that). Then the hall inside is open with a game on the projector.

Maybe you already know and were saying that they should have something more like Johnny's on top of that. But I wanted to mention it because I feel like a lot of people don't know about it. It's not very well-advertised.

Yeah if I won the $1.5b lottery, Iowa State would not have to worry about the rev share budget for 10 years so they can focus on other projects like the Hilton concourse project.
