Following in the footsteps of former state champions and current Iowa State wrestlers Daniel Herrera and Christian Castillo, Soto-Rivera gives the Ames wrestling program another dynamic transfer capable of doing damage at state in 2025-26.

Soto-Rivera is an experienced freestyle wrestler who comes to Ames from Puerto Rico. He will begin the season wrestling at 144, and he has the potential to not only reach state, but do damage once he gets there.

As someone taking Spanish lessons you may wanna change the headline from Puerta to Puerto Rico

Puerta (feminine, ends in -a) means door, gate, or entrance, while Puerto (masculine, ends in -o) means port, harbor, or mountain pass

He wrestled at both the U20 and U17 Pan Ams this year. In both tournaments he got second.

10-0 tech fall loss to Luke Stanich.
And 2-0 to Arseni Kikinou who is #27 on the class of 27 big board.

I heard he had a medical emergency and will not be wrestling in high school this year. I believe he is fine now, but won't be seeing him wrestle for Ames this year
