When is the last time Iowa State Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, and Wrestling all won the Big 12 the same year? Depending on what the women do, we could have 3 top 5 programs at the same time.

That has never happened.

Dating back to 1971, the first year of D1 women's basketball:
- MBB has won the Big 8/Big 12 Regular season in 2000 and 2001. They won the tournament in 1996, 2000, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2024.
- WBB won the Big 12 in 2000. They won the tournament in 2000, 2001, and 2023.
- Wrestling won the Big 8/Big 12 in 1976, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1987, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2024.

Without digging too deep into the overall standings right now, I did find that the wrestling team finished 2nd in the conference to Oklahoma State. That 1999-2000 season would be the closest to all three winning the conference.

Thank you! Very interesting.

I love the thought of an NCAA tournament route of St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis. However, as I looked at the ESPN bracketology, neither St. Louis or Oklahoma City lead to Chicago. Are the first rounds tightly linked to particular regions?

No direct link to regions.

Any first-weekend subregion can feed into any region site.

I think the structure began with the 2002 tournament. Prior to that, subregion and regions were "locked."

When are the decisions made about linking subregions to regions? Is it done at the same time as the assignment to subregions? In other words, when will I know what region is our path for the Final Four?

Selection Sunday is when they’re set. Higher seeds get preferential locations.

This site is very helpful once we’re closer to the tournament and begin to see who we will be competing with for sites.
