*** Official Eastern Illinois vs #4 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

This thread reminds me of last year when we blew a huge lead against Auburn and so many fans were so happy because we only lost by a little bit, teams blow 19-point leads all the time, Auburn's really good, blah blah blah. Loser mentality.

We won, by a significant margin, in a sleepy sunday afternoon game. Who the **** cares, and especially who the **** cares what Iowa is doing?

Iowa is not suffering from a post-CyHawk, mid-finals, pre-xmas dud today, they are up by ~50.

Is this phenomenon unique to ISU?
It is. IDK. Another poster mentioned maybe losing cyhawk gave the hawks a chip on their shoulder today versus the cyclones who won maybe playing more passively/sloppy. I don't know if it's a better excuse but it sounds better than some of those other things.

I don't think people realize how bball works. Even the best teams have off games. We were due for a little regression. You don't just shoot like we were shooting for an entire season. There are ups and downs. I'm fine with a little bit of a lull before conf play. TJ will have the teams attention now.

What is your point? Do we play? Do other good teams have closeish wins against bad teams?

Teams do lose 20ish point leads all the time. It can take about 5-10 minutes of game time.
Even the good ones. It doesn't take long to watch college basketball to see that happen.

What does having premium do for it?

Seriously curious. I had it fir a while but only saw recruiting buzz as worthwhile.

I genuinely think the level of discourse and dialogue is higher on there then it is here, and I do realize that may come off as elitist.

It's not perfect, and there's the occasional display of absurdity there, but I don't think there is the same level of histrionics that is found on the free board, and that we are indeed finding on this very thread.

What!? ISU was up by 35 today with five minutes left and coasted. They didn’t play their best and still dominated. And your example of last year’s reaction to the Auburn game is terrible because those optimistic fans were right. ISU was a top ten team when healthy.

Yep. And I'd much rather beat iowa and only win by 20ish today than lose to iowa and win by 40+ today. I'm sure the Hawks would have as well.

We are coming off a close win over a rival, and a blowout of the previous #1 team in the country. You don't have to be Ray Charles to see today’s performance coming.
Yep. And that’s exactly why this game was scheduled when it was.
