Rocco Becht undergoes surgery on non-throwing shoulder

I didn't see in the OP who did the surgery. Local or did Becht family arrange for another specialist.

Not like he's getting open heart surgery.
As someone who just had open heart surgery 8 weeks ago I can say with a high degree of certainty Rocco would be ready to go in time for spring practice if that’s what he needed done.

While not his throwing arm, it was pretty obvious that he was playing differently after that, and the guy has been just too good and consistent to think that he just lost his touch suddenly.
They were definitely trying to protect him and not running him as much after the injury. Probably the right move even if it affected his play. Sucks that he got hurt, but hopefully he can get healthy and have a great senior year.

My fault for going on Facebook, but i just saw a post from a penn state site, yes this last week messed up the already terrible FB algorythim that said, "Penn St transfer hopeful undergoes successful shoulder surgery".

My step father just had open heart surgery today. Thoughts and prayers to you!
Thanks, and same to you and your family.

The first couple days after surgery ******* suck, but once the first set of drainage tubes are taken out it was pretty mellow in my experience.

Hopefully your stepfather got extubated with no issues and didn’t need a feeding tube.

Horse cream was huge for years. Look it up. We used to use it in high school even. You rub that on whatever hurts and you aren't feeling anything for a while. The problem is when they used it it allowed people to play through serious injuries which only became worse. You can still buy it online. That stuff numbs up an injured part of your body as well as any narcotic painkiller does.
What the hell is horse cream?

I'll likely get crucified, but I hoped for degrees of playing time for Manske and Moberly (given something resembling "blowouts").
Injuries aside, Rocco isn't playing on Sunday's, Monday's, Thursday's.
He ain't BP part II.

The NFL doesn't give a rat's ass re: "Great young men." Yes, RB is a "Great Young Man x 100."

Are we just assuming it was Cincinnati? Or did it actually say that somewhere?

AC joint sprain probably. This probably means no spring ball for Rocco. I would think it would make things tough for him to transfer to a different school and try to compete for a starting job if he can't compete in the spring?
Counter perspective: easier to step back in with same coaching staff vs learning new ways here

An ointment to you rub into the muscles and joints of horses that numbs them up when they are sore. It used to be pretty popular with athletes(especially) football players. The problem was that it allowed people to play when they were actually injured which made tears and things like that way worse. You can still buy it. Google it.

Ignorant question:

Does ISU have any doctors and/or surgeons on staff?

A few years ago I had PT over at the UCSF Sports Medicine Center, and the impression they gave me was some of the therapists would moonlight for the Cal athletic department, but although the surgeons did a lot of work for them it was just by referral.

I guess I’d assume Rocco was on insurance that let him shop around for his own surgeon ?
My assumption has been ISU uses McFarland Clinic Doctors to treat players. Having a McFarland Clinic in Cy-Town will be a plus.

I would expect families can also seek out their own specialist.

Makes you wonder if playing a healthy Manske or Moberly would have been better.
Yes ! Way too long of a leash knowing the injury severity now. We lost 3 in a row after the injury I believe. I’m ready for Moberly or Manske. It’s time. Rocco, you are a good guy but go make some $$ at Penn St pls.

Yes but they probably followed Campbell to Penn St too.
Assume you are joking, but they're with a clinic in Ames that has some kind of contract with the athletic department. They are attached to the university and not the coaching staff (namely because they support all the sports - not just football, basketball, olympic sports, etc)

McFarland guys have an "office" inside Stark and, of course, at the hopstical. I'm curious why they're moving to CyTown.

Maybe they aren’t moving but will have access to more facilities and equipment across the street?
That's the only thing I can imagine. To the best of my knowledge (I am friends with one who has given me tour of Stark facility) they don't really do any kind of procedures at stark. Mostly just meeting with players and probably for examinations. Although I'd be somewhat surprised if they started doing procedures in CyTown. who knows?

Oh ok. I was thinking it was horse jizz, glad I was wrong. Although I do have a hilarious horse jizz story that I need to post one of these days.
